I would say even stay away from things like that. But of course it's your decision.

Re: Characters with accents

Hate them. I find them very distracting, especially when I have to try and decipher what it is they are trying to say. I'd rather *know* they have an accent and let my brain fill in the rest. THIS. My boss has the same opinion, and whenever she edits a book she makes them change the written out dia...

Even better, grease pencil. Write on the walls of the shower. Won't wash off till you want it to, and no paper.

Family interference

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how supportive your families are of your writing, and of your work time? Was just curious and wanted to judge how hard, if any, the difficulties have been. I'm living with my parents for the Summer. They're very supportive of the writing and the editing internship, but t...

Re: National Novel Writing JULY - Word Count Challenge

I'm trying to finish my draft by August first. I want it to be around 75K. I have 30-something. I hope y'all don't mind, it would be weird to start my count from zero, so I'll just start where I'm at and work upwards. Also, I'm really bad about updating daily. July 2: 34,238 July 3: 34,602 a whole m...

Re: The Coffee Shop - JUNE

It's gonna be ok! I will echo the sentiments already written. Good Betas/writing groups are hard to find. Don't be afraid to gently say that it isn't working. I know I've had my fair share of those that haven't worked out. Ladieswhocritique.com is another great resource for Betas/crit partners. 8K W...
