Write Club. Who’s in?
I have a picture to go with this, but i couldn't figure out how to upload it :) 1st RULE: You do not talk about Write Club (but typing about it's okay). 2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about Write Club (or any strange feeling of déjà vu you may have just experienced). 3rd RULE: If someone says ‘stop’, goe...

Most of our ideas never made it to the completed song stage, because we learned to recognize when something had potential or was simply okay. A fair number of those we completed turned out less well than ...

Re: Do you try to finish every piece of fiction you write?
I see what you mean about finishing, though I don't think the logic applies to folks like me who use (an albeit rough) outline from the get go.

Do you try to finish every piece of fiction you write?
Every performer dreads these words: “Boo! Rubbish! Get off! My cat sings better than you, and he’s been dead five years!” In my days as lead singer and keyboard player with the (deservedly) unsuccessful rock band, Gentleman Jones*, I heard those words often. Luckily, my old gran couldn’t attend ever...

What if Paperback Writer was a real query letter?
Even though it wasn’t real, the most famous ‘query letter’ of all time has to be the one immortalized by the Beatles within the lyrics of their 1966 classic, Paperback Writer . But what if Paul McCartney (who wrote the song) really had been an unknown wannabe, trying to get an agent or editor to rea...

Re: (Humor)The Agent Pitch: 10 Responses You Don't Want to Hear
You finally did it. Mouth dry, hands sweatier than the hands of someone who sweats a lot, you made that in-person pitch to the agent of your dreams. Incredibly, the words you rehearsed a thousand times in the last week came out smoother than you ever dreamed possible. No stutter or tremble in your ...
