Re: Cover Design
Hey, Guardian, who did the artwork for your WEB Site, (Grace, specifically) I remember that being just plain amazing. Was that you, or Jules?

Re: Wahoo Moment!
I LOVE writing like that! For me, writing is as good as sitting down to a television screen. Sometimes, I know where I am going, but not all the time. If I always knew what was going to happen, what fun would that be? The most satisfying writing sessions are the ones where I sit back in my chair aft...

Re: another ludicrous story idea: cyberpunk parody
You just need some space monkeys. Yeah! That's it! Monkeys would make it sell for sure!

Re: Do you keep a journal?
I started keeping a journal of the funny things that happened with my kids... guess what? It turned into a novel. Mommy was an author, but she was prettier and had a more interesting life. Everything that happens with the kids, though, is real. No one can make that stuff up. Kids are just insane. I'...

Re: Are Most Authors Women?
Well, I'm a woman, but I have to say, out of all my beta partners, only ONE is a woman. It's kind of weird. I see plenty of women out there in this forum, but I seem to link up with guys easier than I link up with girls as far as writing partners go. (And I get all of my Beta partners from this foru...

Re: Revision of plot - ugh
Think of writing as a journey. It's really about loving what you do.
If you are stressing over it, put it aside.
Give yourself time to fall in love with something else, and you might want to come back to your original later. You'll probably be glad you did.
Good luck!

Re: What do you do if someone already wrote your book?
You know what? The same thing happened to me many years ago. I finished my first really big project… a three novel epic that started with an uncertain linguist that specialized in ancient Egyptian. The start of the novel involved space ships landing on top of the pyramids. Imagine my surprise when I...

Re: Revision of plot - ugh
You know what? If it is your first one, don't beat yourself up over anything at all. Kudos to you just for taking on the insanity at all. Your first does not have to be your best. In fact, for most of us, it rarely is. It's usually a starting point. Try putting it away, and starting something new. Y...

What's a significant goal? Not every novel has to end with saving the world!
Re: Pen names
Do you think anyone wour buy a novel written by WordRanger?
Why does anyone have to know your name, anyway?
Mostly, I'd just want to protect my kids... you never know.

Re: Is "sci fi" a poisonous label?
AAAAAAA! Don't say It's poisonous! This is what I write! You know what? I don't even know why I write this. It's just always what flies out of my fingers. I think it's the draw of creating a completely new world and just going with it. I think there is still a market for it out there. I think you ju...

Re: Pre-story paragraph
I really think this depends on the story. I just finished doing a beta read where I strongly advised the author to remove one. It just didn't work in his case. However, there may be cases where it will work. I think you have to step back, look at your writing style, and decide if it works for your p...
Re: Pen names
I actually googled my name and found another author out there (not a fiction author, thank goodness) with the same name. UGH! I really don't like my maiden name, so I can't go that route. I was thinking of doing a three-initial thing. J.M.A followed by my last name. My problem is, I know I am going ...
