Not an expert either, but I'll give some feedback. Please ignore if it doesn't fit. I like the story alot. This is totally my genre, and I would read this book! How fun - a budding mage at an academy for mages. I can definitely see that this would appeal to Rowling fans. I have two main suggestions....

Must they fight? Why must monkeys and bears always hurt each other? Are they not both creatures of the Universe? Can't they find a point of union, such as their nude hairy bodies, their terrible body odor, and their inability to write a decent query letter? I think monkeys and bears should sit down ...

Jen, I'm not sure what type of employment you're looking for, or how this degree with support you. Is the course expensive?
