Re: 11 Days Until MOCKINGJAY!!!
I preordered for my Kindle. I hope that means I can refresh my books list at midnight on the 24th and it'll appear! Is anyone else having to share their MOCKINGJAY with someone else on release day? My husband and I are both anticipating the book. I'll probably cede the Kindle to him on the 24th sinc...

Re: What are you reading now?
Right now I'm reading SOMEDAY THIS PAIN WILL BE USEFUL TO YOU by Peter Cameron. What an incredible voice. My favorite YA novel! (And one of my favorite novels, period.) It's one I've given to lit fic fans to introduce them to today's YA. I love it to the point that: 1.) I refer to lettuce, arugula,...

Re: Writing Soundtracks
Leonidas: Do you use Pandora.com? I've never heard of the musicians you mentioned, but there's a good chance that you'll be able to start a Pandora station that helps you find similar-sounding music. I use Pandora a lot when I write (as long as I can keep myself from surfing the Internet while I'm s...

Re: What is your most favorite Broadway musical song?
As a lifetime musical geek, this is a hard one. I'm gonna go with my old standby (and also my most-played song on iTunes): "The Ladies Who Lunch," from Company . "Everybody riiiiiiise!" Rounding out my top 5: "At The Ballet," from A Chorus Line "Stars and the Moon,...

I'm reading The Replacement, by Brenna Yovanoff. It's not out until next month, but my friend grabbed an ARC for me at ComicCon. :)

Re: What's Your WIP?
I've only got one that I'm actively writing, but two others that are percolating. I've written several drafts of those, but they need to be reimagined and rewritten. Sigh. Active WIP: YA mystery about a guy who goes missing during his school choir's trip to NYC -- and the reclusive girl who has the ...

I print on used paper too (I keep a stack of one-side-used paper on my desk at work. It accumulates quickly!). No printer problems here! I use an HP LaserJet -- I just stick the used paper in the usual paper tray and it prints with no trouble.

Re: How do you celebrate finishing a book?
A glass of Dom Perignon and a single cigarette. Wait... no. Wrong writer. Usually I look up glassy-eyed from my monitor and let the idea that I've hit THE END sink in. It takes a minute. I get kinda shaky. Then I go and tell my husband (if he's still awake). And I go and get myself some Scotch or bo...

Re: I finally got the Kindle and I adore it
I have a 2nd gen Kindle, and I love it! I think I'm just getting out of the Kindle honeymoon period. ;) I stocked up on books when I first got mine too -- but mainly I went for the free books. Namely, free classics! I love all the public domain stuff that's available for free or almost-free (my Kind...

Re: Writers meet up in Atlanta
I'm pretty flexible in terms of time -- weeknights after 7, or pretty much anytime on the weekend. I like both Thinking Man and James Joyce Pub, but I'll toss out a few more suggestions: Book House Pub - just off Ponce in Midtown Leon's Full Service - generally less crowded than Brickstore Pub aroun...

Re: What are you reading now?
A friend lent me The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo , saying I had to read it, it was the best book she'd read all year, etc. This coming from a person who only reads 3 - 4 books a year. I have it on my nightstand, but have only read the first chapter. I tend to subconsciously rebel against books that ...

Re: Writers meet up in Atlanta
Hey guys, I don't post here too terribly much, but I saw this thread and thought I'd chime in. I live in Midtown and am always game to meet some other writers in the area! I write YA contemporary and magic realism, but my reading tastes are all over the map, and I've critiqued in many genres. I have...

Re: Writing after a long break...
Your writing setup sounds exactly like mine: black coffee, long playlist, wireless card turned off. I've been a rewriter, too. It's good to be able to look at your writing with clear eyes and recognize that it really needs more than just a revision or an "edit." My only caution is not to g...

Re: Any book collectors here?
I collect, but somewhat halfheartedly because I don't have a lot of extra space in my house! Also, I'm well acquainted with my natural inclination to get obsessed with things, so as long as I keep my book collecting as sort of a side hobby, I can keep myself from getting fully immersed in it to the ...
