Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
Thought I'd pop in for a sec and do a self-pub update. The supersecret pen name is about nine months old with approximately 35,000 copies sold. My income per month hit five figures last month and is doubling this month. For my genre, I have 3 titles currently on the Amazon bestseller list. Write wel...

Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY
I don't have an opinion one way or the other about quality of longer works. I've read very long stuff that's very good and I've read very long stuff that's not. Same goes with shorter works and everything in between. I don't think long word counts inherantly mean you're not writing good stuff. What...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
I just found out that my first published erotic romance, Always You, was chosen as a finalist in the Passionate Plume contest. The winner will be announced at the RWA Nationals this summer. This is such a huge contest it's definitely one of those cases where it really is an honor just to be nominat...

Re: National Novel Writing JUNE Word Count Goals
Quitting the day job (and all that entails) and serious performance angst completely derailed me until I saw my sales figures this morning. NOW I'm up for it. (I so want to squee, but I'm refraining.) I'm not going to set a word count goal, but I do want to try to write everyday (which sounds like i...

Re: epublishing blogs
Check out David Gaughran's blog. He's a regular around here and very nice about answering questions. He has a lot of contacts in indie publishing to draw upon and a fairly strong handle on the industry in general.

Re: Justice Dept Lawsuit Moving Forward
It is particularly interesting that the article mentions the problem with Apple having the "most favored" deal with the publishers...since Amazon/B&N and every other distributor I deal with have similar clauses in their contracts. I agree not to price my ebook lower anyplace else than ...

Re: Fifty Shades of Grey: what do you think?
Margo - I wanted you to know I'm going to respond - I think you said some important things - but won't have time until tonight (hopefully) or early tomorrow. Fair enough, but I will say upfront that I probably won't see the message (though that shouldn't stop you from responding, as others probably...

Re: Fifty Shades of Grey: what do you think?
First, Margo, I know you were trying to support Cheeky, but I would have felt pretty hurt if I had been Rachel and read your post making it sound like a bunch of people had agreed to ostrasize her. That came off as pretty harsh - I don't know if you intended that. Absolutely. I don't enable the kin...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
Wasn't sure where else to post this (like we NEVER go off track in a thread, right?) but I thought people might be curious. I was certainly curious. Ever wonder what those Amazon sales ranks mean in terms of actual numbers of ebooks sold? Every once in a while a writer will mention they were selling...
