Re: World Cup!!!
I am NOT a huge sports fan by any stretch of the imagination, but all this World Cup love going on here piqued my interest. I checked out a game over the weekend and it was pretty fun to watch! But what's with all the buzzing? I kept thinking bees were swarming the house.

Re: So who's entering Nathan's first page contest?
I entered, and I only have a few other comments posted. Sorry if this bothers anyone - I am pretty new to this site, and am so swamped with other items of life (kids, work), that by the time I get to read Nathan's blog post there are already so many comments posted that I can't imagine anyone would...

Re: Nominate Your First Page for a Critique on the Blog
Title: ELEMENTAL Genre: YA Science Fiction I never should have listened to the voice in my head. No halfway intelligent person would have gotten themselves lost in the middle of a pitch black prison ship for, oh, a few hours. I had creeped and crawled through at least a dozen different levels and co...

Re: The first chapter of a novel
I think the book should start where the story starts. There's usually something significant that happens to put your MC on the journey he/she will live through during the book, so start there. Someone used Twilight's slow start as an example, but the book started there because Bella's story started ...

Re: It's Finally Happened: The Hive Mind Is Discussing One Book!
Lol, I don't think the guy needed any help. The rich getting richer... Though I guess it's pretty unlikely that such an event would select an obscure or up-and-coming writer. That would be nice, though. Could you imagine waking up one day and finding out that everyone on twitter was going to read y...

Stargate SG-1, followed closely by Stargate Atlantis.
For comedy: America's Next Top Model. I just love watching a bunch of petty girls fighting with each other all the time.

Re: Which celeb/s have you met?
I have one kind of interesting story. A few years ago, I was volunteering as a role player during Robin Sage (Special Forces guerrilla warfare training) and our camp in North Carolina was right next to the race track. So, Michael Andretti and two other racers came by to hang out with us for an hour ...

Re: Bestsellers that don't live up to the hype
I was not a fan of the Ender Series, by Orson Scott Card. Granted, I read all the books, but that had more to do with my obsessive need to know the ending to something, rather than a real desire to read more.
Re: Book club
How cool! Hope you love it as much as I do. I just got my copy yesterday! I am so excited! Anyone who wants to join in the discussion, there's still plenty of time. I've got a link to amazon.com for your purchasing convenience in the blog post. There is NO way you need two weeks to finish this. I'm...

Re: Start with THE HOBBIT or FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING?
I've never read The Hobbit. I started right with LOTR and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. However, I will recommend that you also read The Silmarillion when you are finished with the trilogy. It is so good. Edit: Hmmm...this is what happens when I don't read all the comments first. I...
Book club
I've decided that I need something new to read and, as I love to discuss what I'm reading with others, I thought I would form a temporary book club on my blog. The book is The Secret Year, by Jennifer R. Hubbard. If you would like to partake in the discussion, visit http://steppingintofantasy.blogsp...
