Re: JACOB WONDERBAR AND THE COSMIC SPACE KAPOW
Personally, I can't read "Kapow" without yelling it in my head, exclamation or no exclamation.
But I play too many video games. I can't hear the word "Falcon" without adding "PUNCH!" onto it, care of Mario Smash Bros.
Wait . . . did someone just call me a geek???

Re: Query critique for MG historical novel
Folks, thanks again for taking time to offer suggestions. I tried every one of them during the re-write. Some seemed to work, others didn't. It is till longer than I wanted at 403 words, but I think its a much better letter after being critiqued here. Dear___________________ Ephraim Wright has kept...

Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan, I'm still editing away, and now have my word count down to 128k. I know this is too high for a debut novel, but I'm hoping it's not ridiculously high. My fear is that I will get a form rejection based on word count alone, as I've read on some agents' sites that they stop reading queries o...

Re: Query critique for MG historical novel
Hi MHubbs, Welcome to Nathan's blog :) I think you'll find that nearly everyone here is in the same boat as you, so I'm sure you'll feel quite at home in no time - and hardly any of us bite! It appears to me that this book will probably appeal to readers older than middle grade, too, just as Harry P...

Re: Query help: Waiting for April
Oh WOW ! Thank you for such wonderful feedback, everybody! It gets to a point where you're so close to your story that you're not sure how much information to put in the query, so my main goal was to see how much people needed to know - so thank you all! Skottk: I would find this easier to follow if...

Re: Query help: Waiting for April
Thanks so much, both of you! Shadow - I should have mentioned that the POV is from both April and Scott, chapter by chapter. Of the ten beta readers I've given it to so far, each one found it easy to follow, so hopefully an agent will too! Dakota 388 - the spelling differences are due to the fact th...

Final query: Waiting for April
For final query, please scroll down! Hi everyone! I have decided to bite the bullet and post this rough query. I am still in the process of editing, so please, PLEASE keep in mind that I am still hacking away at the word count! This is one version I have come up with, but I would love any feedback ...

Re: Monkeys vs. Bears
Bears. Unless it's prison rules. Then I'd have to say Monkeys.
