Re: I need a fake story idea...
If it's fake anyway, then you could use a fairytale, folktale, or even the story form your favorite romcom. So long as you change the names of the player and the most of the major events, no one will care. Perhaps even use the Romeo and Juliet story.

Re: What are you reading now?
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness and The Unnamed by Joshua Ferris. Both are scrumptious. One is sad, but scrumptious. I'm reading SHADOW OF NIGHT right now too! It better not be sad! The Unnamed is sad. At least in the middle! Shadow of Night is more scrumptious. Whew! I'm about five chap...

Re: Query for Till the Sun Comes Up (Adult Fiction)
I read your first few hundred words post from a few months ago (loved it) so reading your query was great because now I know what happens next. Awesome. You know, I think this query is pretty darn good. In fact, there's only one line that bothers me. I have it underlined below. It seems too much lik...

Brenda! I'm so proud! Perhaps taking a few days away to do projects around the house and spend time with family friends was what you needed. Whatever the reason, I am happy for you!

Ha! I know, right? But as soon as I went there, my one sentence turned into 3, then 4, and then I knew it was a lost cause.trixie wrote:Lol, Brenda. I thought the same thing. Jane goes back in time!!

Re: J.K. Rowling's new book - The Casual Vacancy
I was spoiled to the book the week it came out and normally that would drive me nuts, but in this case I'm grateful and my friend knew she needed to warn me before I broke down and bought it. It is very, very, very dark. I like dark stories, don't get me wrong. I especially like dark endings. What ...

Re: The art of the one sentence synopsis
Oh man. I can see I need to spend some time on this. But here's what I got after spending a few minutes. Jane is a powerful musician who learns that her music can do more than simply appeal to the heart and soul; it can save them too. I don't know if that sums up everything. There is so much that's ...

Re: What are you reading now?
Currently reading SHADOW OF NIGHT by Deborah Harkness. It's the sequal to A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES. This has turned out to be a pretty enjoyable series - vampires, witches, daemons, time travel...
But I'm a sucker for time travel stories.

Re: Word Count/Writing Challenge - SEPTEMBER
Well, I didn't join the challenge because I had a weird double-semester and thought I wouldn't be writing much (outside of classes anyway), but it turns out I wrote some 18 (handwritten) pages throughout the month, and I'm very happy about them. :) Progress I never thought I'd have! Congratulations...

Re: Books As Books
I have a Nook and have yet to read anything on it. Yeah, I'm a traditionalist. However, I have allowed my young son to read from it. He loves it. It'll be the next generation that will fully embrace it, I think.

Re: What T.V. shows are you watching?
My husband and I are HUGE Star Trek fans so we just recently finished watching all 7 seasons of Voyager. We also got hooked on Downton Abbey, and can't wait for the next season! Everyone has been telling me to watch Big Bang Theory, but we have yet to make the plunge.

Re: Does anyone,
I don't even know how to write a short story. If I come up with a world, that in itself takes half a novel, then all the "story" that goes with it leads to the rest of the novel plus at least another. (I'm very long-winded.)
