Nope. My humor is all spur of the moment type stuff that isn't funny printed.
Wish i could write humor, but it just isn't one of my strengths.

Re: Query Help: Museum Chronicles
Your revision is much more clear, however the first two paragraphs are all set up. Backstory. If the main character is Colin, he needs to be introduced right away and instead of telling about his adventures, show those adventures. Tie Colin's association with the Society into his time traveling abil...

Re: Two queries for Epertase- Which to use?
i like the first one better. has a better flow and raises less questions as i read it (#2 has Elder Three, who are not explained, and the 2nd paragraph is a whopping block of text). looks like a solid query to me. i'd suggest sending it to a few agents who aren't your top selections to test the wate...

Re: Second Hand Books
My collection is about half new and half used. i've had to buy copies of books i loaned out and never got back quite a few times. My wife's collection is mostly new, as she devours all her favorite authors newest releases as soon as they come out.

Re: Query Help - Hacked
Here are my thoughts. Dear Personalized Salutation, Twenty-something hacker Audrey Frincke survives an accident that should have killed her, and discovers that she’s not human. She’s one of the Folk, an ancient race of elves no need to call them elves after calling them Folk imo who live among human...

Re: Hand vs. Type
i started as a by hand writer. For a long time i had a mental block about drafting at the keyboard, and things seemed to flow better if i wrote by hand. Then one day as i was transferring my scribbles into a digital file the handwritten scene was missing huge sections of conversations and descriptio...

Re: Query - revised....
Usual disclaimer about my qualifications... One night Connor Riley finds himself wide-awake, unable to explain what woke him—and then the headaches start. Over the next few days, he tries to remember from where he knows the woman who mysteriously disappeared the same night while trying to deal with ...

The following are suggestions and impressions. Take what makes sense to you and ignore what doesn't. i'm an amateur as well... Hell has come to Gothic. So far, i like On a job to secure his freedom, a self-condemning bounty hunter if the bounty hunter is the MC, name him here. tracks a member of his...

Re: Query Crit - SotA
Initially, i was going to post responses to the questions, but i think it would be better at this point to see if my revised query answers the questions/addresses the issues that were found in the previous query. I think this one will kept it to 244 words, so i've got enough to make a personalized o...

Re: Do you prefer: Hardbacks or paperbacks?
Paperback for the vast majority of books. For me, hardcover is only worth buying if there is additional material or if i'm going to get the author's signature at a book signing. i don't enjoy reading from a hardcover nearly as much, so the ones that i buy are more for collection purposes. thats just...

Thanks to all of you who took the time to comment. I'm not offended at all, and appreciate the time you took to give me your impressions, as they will help when i go to revise my query tonight (revising queries is harder than revising the novel itself). The one thing i've learned is that if i'm gett...

'Self-Editing for Fiction Writers' by Renni Browne and Dave King
i've learned alot from it so far.
For fiction, i'm going to re-read 'Jhereg' and the Taltos series by Steven Brust in anticipation of the new book coming out early next year.

Query Crit - SotA
my goal is to have my rough draft revised and polished by my birthday, but i'm now advancing that to the end of January. This is my query, which i've gotten some advice on. i'd appreciate any comments you have, so i can get this ready to mail it out as soon as the novel is polished. Thanks. --------...

yeah, not going to give a crit when you've got far better advice in a post above.
i will say that although i generally dislike the genre, your query did interest me, and made me want to read more.
