Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

My opinions/observations, FWIW the four toed statue Tawaret, goddess of childbirth. She's broken, so that could be an allusion to whatever happened to the mothers on the island dying when their children were conceived there. She was a protector deity for those in childbirth, so losing her hands coul...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

My usual Friday posting of "Honoria's Journal" - the ongoing story of one of my characters as a kid years before she's an adult in my WIP.

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

The sonogram wasn't a mistake. Ethan tells her she's at 36 weeks. When Claire delivered Aaron on the island, she was at 32, so it's a month later. That means they're off the "number" schedule that was so twisted into everything.

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

Not only is there the Desmond hick-up Jack did have a moment of deja vu with Desmond, but that could have been from him remembering the night they met running bleachers, but there was no Shannon on the plane with Boone (she stayed in Australia). There was no Michael (I'm sure it would have been diff...

Re: Query -- Platinum Donkeys

personality disorder =/= insanity True insanity thinks it's sane, sees nothing wrong with its actions or is incapable of judging its actions, and feels no remorse for its actions. People who are insane can have moments of lucidity where they will realize what they've done and feel remorse, but once ...

Re: Query -- Platinum Donkeys

Okay, fair enough. (And yes, aspiring_x, I am using Nathan's checklist for what to include in a query.) Let's try this iteration then: They are mad geniuses; ugly but adaptable, stubborn but strong. They are a secret cabal called The Platinum Donkeys, a secret cabal of mad geniuses has just recruit...

Re: Query -- Platinum Donkeys

I *think* the 'show, don't tell' rule applies to the writing, not to an informational query. But I could be wrong. I could mention some of the surreal elements, but do you have any suggestions on how to communicate 'fast paced' in one or two sentences? I don't see that it's possible. The query IS p...

Re: Query -- Platinum Donkeys

Hopefully this helps, but I'll warn you -- I usually crit in a place called Query Letter Hell with a red pencil of DOOM (Dooooooooooooom!!!!!) full of blood.... These are only my opinions, but they're blunt. All right, after various events I feel better about asking here for some advice. :) If you d...

Re: Ask Nathan

Nathan, I know that 2nd person POV is not a commonly used one, but as I'm editing one of my WIP (a children's book at the lower MG level), that's how it's shaping up. Since the reader is in the position of being a "character" (kind of like those old "Choose your own Adventure" books), I'm not sure h...

Confessions of a Serial Writer

Hi. My name is Josie M (*Hi, Josie*) and I have ideas... lots of ideas. So many that I'm addicted to them. My ideas' favorite pass time is popping up in the middle of executing another idea. I'll be typing away, fingers flying across the keyboard, word count climbing so fast I think I might be able ...

Re: Do you mention good reviews in a query?

Don't most reviewers only handle published books? Why would you be querying something that's already been published?
