Re: Staddicts

Ooh, universal cartridges! That would be brilliant but I don't think they will y'know. They like their profits a little too much :(

I'm lucky that a store near me stocks own brand cartridges at half the price of the 'official' ones so I stock up on them when I have the money.

Re: Share your opening sentence!

Love what I've read thus far! Here's mine... "I can only stare at Pan’s cigarette, inexplicably dangling from his thin bottom lip, as I wait for his arms to explode away from his body." From my urban fiction novel, "Empire Of Light". By the way, this is my first post here. This looks like a great s...

Re: Craptastic covers... what are your pet peeves?

It isn't usually any one thing that grabs my attention, just the overall look of the thing. I'm a dark fantasy fan so I like the covers to reflect that genre. After that, I'll check out the first page and if it grabs me, I'll buy it. The only thing that truly annoys me about cover art, is when it's ...

*grins*

I knew you'd be in with me Jaime, and it's good to know that we aren't the only ones :D

I'll add those new ones by Lorelei, Ink and Mia to the list of Staddict traits now :D

Staddicts

I know now, that I am not the only person addicted to stationary. This is a strange affliction whereby a budding author will naturally gravitate towards the nearest stationary store in the immediate vicinity and be lost within the displays, sometimes for years. You, or someone you know, may be a Sta...

You refresh the page every 5 minutes just in case someone posted and get upset if they did but it's something you can't answer.

Re: You know you've been up too late working on your book when..

The next day you can’t get started without three cups of coffee, and those three cups of coffee only get you as far as THINKING about writing more of your book. This is me! You know you've been up too late working on your book when the kids come into the room demanding to be taken to school now or ...

*Cheesy Grin* I thought I was the only one who felt that way about stationary! I absolutely have to have that stripy notebook and those pens! They must be mine because I'll just die without them hehe. Everybody who knows me in real life thinks that I have far too much stationary and that it isn't wo...

Re: TWILIGHT - thoughts?

I've so far managed to escape reading Twighlight and am pretty happy about it. The more people talked about it though, the more I thought that perhaps I should go out and buy a copy. Just to make sure I knew what I was getting into though, I checked out the Twighlight fan stories on fanfiction.net. ...

Re: Should you share your writing before it's finished?

Oh yeah, he really said that. I didn't punch him though, I just ignored him which infuriated him far more than a punch would have. Besides, he's a black belt in Karate and I really didn't want to go there xD

Re: Should you share your writing before it's finished?

I see your point. The only person I have to read my work currently is my ex-husband to be, who discouraged me from ever trying to write because he thought I wasn't good enough. His problem is that he writes academically and I don't so we clashed many, many times and it took me a long time to be able...

Re: Reading Rate?

It depends what mood I'm in and whether the book(s) grab me and drag me along. For example, it took me a week and a half to read The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman because I kept getting confused and tangled up on different plot points which for me is unusual (I'm still trying to figure out what k...

Re: Should you share your writing before it's finished?

I don't think it's a mistake showing people your writing before it's finished. I however, found that whenever I shared an idea for a story that I had, people automatically tried to change it, add ideas of their own and generally put me in a funk. I try not to show anyone what I'm writing any more be...

*waves* I'm Emma and I generally hide out in a rather large industrial town in Northern England. I've been writing random little stories for my kids for years but in the last year or so, I've knuckled down and become serious about it. I love reading dark fantasy so it only makes sense that I write i...

I don't think you're a bad mom. I think that you're an awesome mom who knows how to use the written word in such a way that kids will either learn their lesson, live in fear of what could happen or both. This is a skill every mom should have!
