Re: First Page Revision? - SftOS

I couldn’t tell them that a ghost had dived headfirst into my windshield. She was still in my passenger seat. “Your license?” said the officer. I handed it to him. Behind me, the car horn honked. The ghost threw a pebble at my head. Sorry I don't have time for more, but I wanted to tell you - Right...

Re: Throat-clearing & Head-banging

Lucky you got to do that! It would be fun if we could get together a few agents/ interns that would offer such a free service on a blog or something like Writers Idol... lol JK I wish.. but anyways I personally prefer action up front the rest catches up. Usually I see that people have a lot of fles...

Re: Will my MC's name kill my chances?

I won't lie to you Shadow, when I first read your query I didn't much care for it. Mainly, I think it's difficult for young readers to pronounce. Heck, when I say it outloud, I don't know if I'm saying it right. I get that it's fantasy and the names can be way out there, and if you love it - keep it...

Re: Life... and full manuscript request

Congrats! Those are some pretty good stats for so early in the game. I think "reply promptly" is pretty much code for "don't take so long to get back to me that I forgot why I requested this material in the first place". I can't imagine if you need a week in order to get it together and send it off...

I'd pay you Justine. With cookies. Or stationary. Just kidding, but you should all stop by Justine's blog; it's a fun little debate.

Re: Query: Natural Selection (Mystery) Final Revision

Thanks lacrymal. Lots. I had changed the "who"s to "that"s but changed them back at the last minute. The first time I wrote this particular sentence, I used "that." Then, a while back, I had it critiqued somewhere else and several people commented it was odd to refer to a human killer as a "that" a...

Hmph...it's both - for me anyways. But I try not be a whiner either. I'll get on the train anyways, hoping somewhere along the way somebody will buy my ticket. ;-)

Re: Query- Isabella Vampirella

Nice job. Maybegenius made a good point on the long sentence. And there's one place in the query where you still spell Ysabella as "Isabella" here: "teacher assigns seats and puts Isabella near the back of the class right next to her obnoxious classmate..." And, I don't know how attached you are to ...

I agree with maybegenius and the others. Make those changes and it's good. I also wanted to point out that my daughter used to be a huge Junie B. Jones fan, and I think (aside from the paranormal aspect), your book really does fall withn those lines a teaching children something like those books do....

Dear Agent, Vitiosus is the prince of the Lasserta, a nation of cold-hearted beings striving for power, yet he finds himself longing for peace and freedom. Raised by his father in the spirit of hatred and anger towards humans, Vitiosus is a dark warrior who is feared by all. But when he learns he's...

I've got three little ankle biters, a cat, and two horses (no, I don't live on a farm...lol) I read that wrong the first time. I thought you were referring to the cat and two horses as the ankle biters. I was thinking "how freaking short are her horses?" LMAO!! OMG, seriously - that made my day. 3 ...
