Just for fun: What movie stars would be best for your MS?

Okay, this is just totally for fun, but do you ever think about who would be the best actor for your MS? Again, okay, just for fun, but here's who I would pick. I would need a male lead who is impossibly handsome, but has depth. I'm thinking, either: Russell Crowe, Jude Law, or Johnny Depp And a fem...

Re: Favorite quote

These are great. Funny. :)

Here's one about resting during the holidays. No particular reason.... :)

Re: Comfort books

These are great, thanks much!

Have you read some of the other books by L.M. Montgomery? I love the Emily series, since it's about a writer, and is semi-autobiographical.

Thanks for the recommendations - I'll check them out - lots I haven't read. :) Fun.

Re: What are you listening to?

Right now - Christmas music.

Otherwise, something soothing - classical, oldies, light jazz, new agey. But I'm like you - not while I'm writing. For some reason, music in the background while I'm writing distracts me too.

casnow, most agents prefer double-spaced.

I know what you mean. What's the hold-up here. :)

Good luck with your querying.

Re: Query and Book Proposal...Getting and Evaluating Feedback

Skyhawk - I don't know if you're checking in, but I visited your site. I like your synopsis. Compelling. I think that's as far as I'm going to go, though. I realized that I'm not up for beta-reading right now - sorry. But there is lots of support out there in terms of critique - if you're interested...

Comfort books

During the holiday time, I love to snuggle up and read comfort books. It's raining and cold, and it's perfect to re-visit an old friend or a new one that makes me feel cozy and comfortable. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm about to run out of my current pile. I just finished re-reading Harr...

Re: Beta Readers?

Are you looking for beta readers here?

I can't, unfortunately, I start classes again in a couple of weeks.

But maybe in the summer.

Cool idea!

Re: Christmas fun

I love Christmas.

Marla, you're killing me with the cat videos. :)

So, I don't actually have a Christmas story, I just weighed in to say I love Christmas. All the lights and songs and cookies and presents and decorations. Brightens up everything. :)

Re: Top 5 Favorite Christmas Albums?

I love Christmas music! :) With the one exception of the 12 nights of Christmas, which has to be the most boring song in existence. Drives me crazy. I don't have any of these albums yet, I tend to just listen to the radio. But here is who I like: a. The Carpenters. Karen Carpenter's voice is rich an...

Re: Do you ever feel you're getting worse?

Ben - this is my belief. It's not possible to get worse. That just makes no sense. How can you practice a skill and get worse at it? No, I don't think that happens. If you're practicing your craft, you're improving in it. What I do think can happen is people get blocked. Pressure and anxiety can dry...

Re: Query and Book Proposal...Getting and Evaluating Feedback

Sure Skyhawk, I'd be honored. I can't do much more than that because my break from school ends soon, but I'll visit your blog sometime over the next couple of days.

Again - good luck!

Re: Query and Book Proposal...Getting and Evaluating Feedback

Skyhawk, there is a real power to your words. I think writing is all about releasing that power in the way that makes the most impact. Writing is a skill, the better you can get at it, the more impact you have. I'm not sure I'd post the chapter here - Nathan hasn't yet agreed to that level of critiq...

Re: Query and Book Proposal...Getting and Evaluating Feedback

:) Cool. I see it's not possible to discourage you, and I'm abit relieved. I don't want my words to be too discouraging to a stranger on a blog - I only know a very small piece of this from what you've posted.... It does sound like you have quite a story there! And yes, I think marketing is crucial....

Re: Query and Book Proposal...Getting and Evaluating Feedback

Hmmm. Okay, that's a lot more information. First, deep respect for your recovery. I know from my own life what a hard path that is, and how few people actually recover. That is something to be astoundingly proud of. Respect, definitely. So, in terms of your book. I'm worried this will sound harsh, a...
