Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

Interesting aside... it's dark and mysterious... woohooooahhaaa. That MAKES it interesting.

Re: Your first novel and other stuff

:)
I don't find it a block, but rather a symptom of my asperger's.

Did you ever happen to read the micro synopsis I sent your way? (changing topics again, also blame aspie syndrome). My wife, of all people, gave me the hint toward my fix.

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

Congrats, Sommer :)

Margo... I am splitting inside with intrigue. You sound almost like a writer/spy because of the secrecy, and I both love and hate that so much.

Re: Your first novel and other stuff

I am almost EXACTLY a #2 writer from Sommer's post. I CANNOT wrap my head around continuing if there are drastic changes, and instead I rework things and start again. Sure, it takes time, but it's faster than simply breaking down, and then ultimately scrapping my writing (which I have threatened to ...

Re: Is a low-selling self-published book considered baggage?

From listening to various agents, a self published book is not necessarily an anchor. However, they won't represent THAT book if it is not doing well. And... if it is doing well, why do you need an agent? So... if you have published a book before, and you have a NEW book that you are looking for rep...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

My news may not be quite as good as everyone else's lately. However, I do have this. After struggling for a while, rewriting and restarting my first novel, I got challenged to find where it should really begin, and found that I flip flopped the telling of the story. Now, I have a much better story t...

Re: Your Favorite Fantasy

So I guess I'm the only one with megalomania :).

I want to be able to write full time without having to have a day job, but the BIG fantasy is seeing a kid come to my door dressed as one of my characters on Halloween.

Re: Separate email accounts for personal and writing ? names?

Trixie... did you know you can sort of link the accounts? oddly, this works better on my android phone than it does on windows. I have both a personal and a writing account, and they are both under my gmail app. Changing between them is as simple as a dropdown menu. My phone dings when either of the...

Re: WriteOnCon 2012

I'm in. Not sure how well it will go as I got critiqued into a new rewrite, which is a good thing, in some ways. Let's see.

Re: Political Correctness in American Folklore

What about the Native Americans being "Forest Dryads?" They can look Human, or even make themselves look like elves, but can take a spirit or animal form.

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

:: Waits Patiently :: :: Twiddles Thumbs :: OK :). It's not spiritual or anything, but it is personal stuff, and I do waste a lot of time on it, but I don't think I could be as creative as I have been without it. Much of what I did in the beginning I won't do again, because I was lost, and meanderin...

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

I got story engineering. It was good, but Brandon Sanderson's classes were better :). I may have to finish Story Engineering. He kept on padding his word count with some ridiculous SPAM like pitch.

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

I don't know. For me, writing is such a weird and intimate thing, that it would be like using a spreadsheet for sex. On an ENTIRELY different note. Sommer, now that I see you have come back a bit, and don't seem underwater, did you have a chance to look over the PM I sent you outlining my story? I w...

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

Wow, that's highly technical there, Sommer. I just write it and cut out what feels wrong. I've cut out a LOT. My chapter 1 is my old chapter 9 (when the story really took off). I've cut a character here or there, introduced ones I'm not sure about so they may go away too. I've changed the nationalit...
