Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

I don't use spreadsheets for the actual novel, though occasionally I use them in setting building.

I do use Scrivener, which is awesome. I use MS Word for the actual writing, but Scrivener to both plot the novels and organize all my notes on the setting.

Re: Freelance Editors

Everyone probably knows I'm a fantasy novelist. Before studying web design, I also went to publishing school to be an editor. I'm currently launching a freelance editing business for fantasy and science fiction. At the moment, I'm offering rates below industry standard. I'd also be willing to offer ...

Freelance Editors

I was originally just going to post that I offer freelance editing services. But I figured a thread to collect a list of freelance editors might work better. Feel free to add any editors you like.

Thanks, Anima! Writing's my passion, but it's nice to get a little use out of my day job.

Re: My new website is ready

Thanks, Mira!

It was a lot of effort, but I'm proud of the result. Or I should say, I'm proud of my books and I wanted a website to add a nice visual to them.

Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY

If it makes you feel better, Brenda, I just finished the first five chapters of one of your WIPs. So far so good. I like the magic a lot.

Re: My new website is ready

Wow, Matt, congrats! It looks all kinds of pretty, not to mention simple and efficient. I have to say, I'm dying with curiosity about the images in the background. Are they related to your books? Because they are incredible. (I couldn't find a copyright so I figure they belong to you? If not I'm no...

Re: My new website is ready

'Fraid the blog is already scrapped, Ryan. Database deleted, file space reused (you may notice the new site has the same url?). And yeah, it took a long time to set up. But hey, I got to use my day job skills a bit, and that's a plus sort of. Really, the thing is, now the time on the website is done...

Re: Please flag posts with suspicious signatures

The spam is getting really annoying. I second the suggestion of putting posts from brand new users into moderation. I think I've flagged (multiple) spam posts from five different users this evening alone. More than half of the posters listed as the most recent contributors on the forum front page a...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

Thought I'd pop in for a sec and do a self-pub update. The supersecret pen name is about nine months old with approximately 35,000 copies sold. My income per month hit five figures last month and is doubling this month. For my genre, I have 3 titles currently on the Amazon bestseller list. Write we...

Re: What do you do when an idea takes over?

I stick with my current project. I'll devote a morning (since usually my lightning-strike-oh-my-gosh-this-is-amazing moments are in the early morning) to write out everything that's in my brain on this Shiny New Idea. Then I save the file, write up a sentence or two on my Shiny New Idea board, and ...

Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY

Don't get me wrong, I love the Wheel of Time. But even Jordan could have made his story even better by trimming the word count. Or at least better from my perspective, since I want fast pacing and great story more than a detailed description of everything any character ever wears.
