Re: Please flag posts with suspicious signatures

The spam is getting really annoying. I second the suggestion of putting posts from brand new users into moderation. I think I've flagged (multiple) spam posts from five different users this evening alone. More than half of the posters listed as the most recent contributors on the forum front page a...

Re: Uptick in SPAM after posting here?

I hadn't thought about it, but of the links in my sig, only one is a blog and since I started posting here, I did start seeing more of those same idiots doing the "essay writing service" spam that they do here. Of course, I have my blog set to full moderation and I don't allow link posting, so mostl...

Re: Which Role playing Game are you playing?

Aww :-( I picked up a PS copy a year or two ago. It's always amusing to me (except when I want to buy one LOL) how much value some of the games have retained. Almost all FF games are still $30-40 used on PS, as are some of the bigger RPGs. And oh the limited release stuff...insane! Vagrant Story is ...

Re: Which Role playing Game are you playing?

Interestly, it was Final Fantasy 8 (I know it's massively flawed, but I love it sooooooo much. It's the best game i've played bar none) that got me writing properly in the first place and set the style/genre for what I wrote. Flawed? Flawed? Says who! Loved FF 8! Replayed it not so very long ago :-...

Re: Which Role playing Game are you playing?

Currently playing Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on the Wii :-)

I'm looking forward to getting a PS3 next year or so when I can finally get Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 amongst others :D

Re: What do you do well?

Hmmm...from the feedback I've gotten on my stories, I would say that I probably do descriptions well. People frequently comment that they are able to visualize my scenes well, which is nice :-) I'd also like to think I tell compelling stories, but that is yet to be proven ;-)

Re: What is your writing weakness? (Let's call this therapy)

As others have mentioned, my really big weakness is procrastination - it's always "eh, I'll work on it tomorrow", "I'm too tired", "oh, look, Facebook", etc etc. That is coupled with getting far too easily discouraged from reading writing forums (not these of course :-D), articles, blog posts, etc w...

Re: Writing Group Dilemma

Out of curiosity...you mentioned in your first post that the author's work is dark and does things "just for the sake of going there", and that her work is dark just to be shock and awe. What has led you to feel that it is just the author being shocky and excessive, versus it being relevant or in-ke...

Re: Weirdest Christmas/Holiday songs?

"Grandma Got Run Over by A Reindeer" - the title says it all, though the lyrics just make it weirder (for example, "and we just cant help but wonder should we open up her gifts or send them back?")

"Leroy The Redneck Reindeer" - Rudolph's country cousin fills in one year...

Re: Any words of wisdom for a pantser?

I am a pantser. I don't outline, pre-plan, etc. The closest I come to "pre-planning" is that my stories always start with my having a scene in my head that, as it marinates, becomes more scenes. Then I decide to start writing the story, and most of the scenes work their way in, but not always. I dea...

Re: NaNoWriMo Progress - Roll Call!

So far, so so. A day or so behind, at 13,655 with today's writing. Having trouble with one of our wrimos this year being very hyper and disruptive at our write ins, so not getting as much done as I'd normally do. Also keep finding myself researching (I know, bad bad bad), to find cities and what not...
