Re: Creating an author web site

I did my website, www.TammySetzerDenton.com, through VistaPrint. I have no web building skills, but it was fairly simple and the cost seems fair. I can update as often as I like and it contains a site-tracking feature. I also matched the website to business cards I had made up to promote my novel, M...

Re: MAN OF THE HOUSE - 1st Ch.- Critiques Anyone?

Quill, Thanks for the line by line edit. I agree with swapping the first two sentences as well as many of your other points. Trust me that many will go into the next edit along with the previous comments from other forum critiquers. To clear up a few things. The rat is a Norwegian brown rat which is...

Re: ISBN numbers???

I thought it was optional, but apparently it is not. The CreateSpace site asks if you want one assigned or if you already have one. I tried to opt out of either, but it won't let me. I may abandon the rest of the process so no book will exist. I hope I've not screwed myself in the process. On a happ...

Re: MAN OF THE HOUSE - 1st Ch.- Critiques Anyone?

Thanks to everyone so far. Your comments are incredibly helpful. I only get one chance to impress an agent so I'm furiously polishing this book. I have a four chapter excerpt on my website if anyone is interested. http://www.TammySetzerDenton.com The first eight chapters or so switch POV between Ala...

Re: Something's wrong... I can't find it. Help please.

I noticed an excessive usage of "was" and "were". You can eliminate a lot of it with some simple reworking. Example: The book was sticking out of the top shelf, just the corner, but it enough to make me wish I’d gone home for Black Friday. The book stuck out of the top shelf, just the corner, but en...

Re: Creating an author web site

Thanks Polymath. I posted another question regarding ISBN numbers in a new thread. If you have any input on that question, I would appreciate anything you have to say. Thanks again.

ISBN numbers???

My prize for making it to the quarterfinals in the 2010 ABNA competition is a single, paperback copy of my novel, MAN OF THE HOUSE, from CreateSpace which is a self-publishing service. I plan to seek legitimate representation of my novel after one more polishing edit, but want to know what the impli...

Re: Creating an author web site

My question is in regard to my website, TammySetzerDenton.com, where I have posted an excerpt of my novel, MAN OF THE HOUSE,in order to start building a platform. By publishing this excerpt on a personal website, am I breaking any rules that might sabotage future publication?

Re: Funniest book you've read?

The funniest book I've read is LAMB by Christopher Moore. I buy extra copies whenever I find one and pass it along to people who need a laugh. It's the untold story of Christ's childhood and teen years by his 13th Apostle and childhood friend, Biff.

Read the first page. It's a hoot!

Re: Monkeys vs. Bears

Bears, of course! They can eat three or four monkeys at a time whereas it takes three or four monkeys to eat one bear.
