Critique My Covers
Hi all! With a new book in my series coming out in December, cover design and possible re-design is on my mind this morning. Reviews are good and sales are stable, if not stellar. I think that sales could be better, maybe with a cover that appeals to a wider audience. My thoughts are that maybe they...

Re: Cover Art Opinions Wanted
Thanks, I'm not sure if you'd call me a professional or not, I have a graphics background but it wasn't in cover art design.dios4vida wrote:I think both covers are nice - much better than a lot of other non-professional covers out there!

Re: Cover Art Opinions Wanted
Well, I can't say I'm any closer to making a decision. Almost all the feedback I've gotten is evenly split.
Sommer - You're right though, it doesn't have to be an either/or type of situation.

Here they are thumbnail sized
Part of me thinks that this may be new author jitters, but I really do want the best and most widely appealing cover I can get.

Thanks for the input.
Doug - The graphic on the top is a veve or the symbol of a loa, but if it requires an explanation, it probably shouldn't be there anyway.

Cover Art Opinions Wanted
Hi everyone! I've been working on cover art a little this weekend for my urban fantasy, Voodoo Dues and I'm looking for opinions. http://stephanysimmons.com/covergirl.jpg http://stephanysimmons.com/graphicmed.jpg The version on the left is the cover that I'm currently using. My concerns are that it'...

Re: Wordpress Editors
Yep, I have a self hosted wordpress blog and I've been sifting through themes for about 24 hours now looking for something that will work for me. I found some passable themes. I would like to create my own.
I suppose that I'm looking to take the easy way out.

Re: Romantic Paranormal Fiction reader needed
Hi Stephan, I'd love to take a look at your book if you'd like. I could simply give you a 'need more here' notes as I read? I can also give you personal reactions to various characters. My one issue is time. I'm slower than heck because I can only work on weekends. I could get through it in a few w...

Re: Character Development Advice Needed
In the story he's very much the voice of reason and chivalrous protector (even though he isn't big or scary) for the female lead who tends to rush into situations that could be life threatening. He's been there before and came very close to dying which is a big part of why he is so reserved, the res...

Re: Character Development Advice Needed
The beta said that the feel of the character is vague when comparing him to the POV character. She says that he is not well defined and that after we get his back story early on he seems boring - no more mystery, no secrets.

Character Development Advice Needed
I have a character problem that I really need advice on. I just got a crit back from a beta reader and she suggested that I work on my male lead. He's a very reserved, academic (a little wounded) kind of guy. The problem is that he came across as very "generic hero character" and a little ...
