Re: How do you know your writing is good enough?

I'm glad to have read this thread it's a good question. I think that if the story is good people will forgive the writing and skip to the heart of the tale. Often times my issue with reading is when a story is drawn out and you forget why you're reading this part or you forget what the characters ar...

Re: Do you prefer: Hardbacks or paperbacks?

I like paperback a) because they're less money and b) I have an intense hatred for hardback because of school. Math books and science books were always, always hard back with thousands of pages. And we'd have to carry those extremely heavy books from school and back. It was ridiculous. So, to my enj...

Re: To e-book or not to e-book?

I was reluctant because I didn't want to seem like I was just here to promote my dad's book and not help anyone else. But maybe others can learn from our mistakes. Escape 2 Earth is the first novel and Return 2 Earth is the new one https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/7164 If you dare (the whole st...

Re: To e-book or not to e-book?

I'm going to go ahead and post the e-book. Hopefully they'll be more publishers that don't mind than do. I was going to go and do it anyway but when I went to that panel of editors two or three of them seemed really harsh on the idea. While the other two didn't seem to mind. If anything happens I'll...

Re: Small Press Publishers

It started out as a scifi list for myself because I really didn't realize that all of these publications and companies were out there, and then I realized hey! Other people may not realize this either, lol! So that's why it's here, I'll try to stop by to see what everyone else is posting and add it ...

Small Press Publishers

Hopefully this will help some writers out there. I've been making lists for other writers on other sites about small press publishers, most of us come to this site because we don't have an agent or a publisher and well some publishers don't require you to have an agent. While searching for e-zines t...

Re: Your own website?

I run a web site for my father and the only reason why I created a web site for him is for (exposure) we don't have a lit agent (yet) but he has a few things that he's written and the internet is the way that we get most, if not all of his readers. He's new so he has one novel, and a few short stori...

Re: Author / Book Marketing

I think the marketing thread is a good idea too. Book Fairs/Festivals Twitter Facebook Amazon -I know people say duh, of course amazon, but I don't think people take advantage of the author's blogs and the connection that amazon offers between the readers and writers. Ning sites - not so much for ma...

To e-book or not to e-book?

I've been going to book fairs and conventions and lately the same question seems to arise at every one. Should self-published authors post their work on Kindle? (or any other e-book format) Whenever another author is asked this question they say yes. (And by authors I mean author's who are signed wi...
