Re: Do you have a new blog post?

Just a stream of consciousness kind of post...based on part of a future story.

Re: CONTROL - YA - Opening (400 words) - Revised

Good start! I am no expert on critiques...but if I had picked a book like this up at a library and read that as the opening, I would be interested enough to read more. I want to know where she is and who she is...and you did a good job of drawing me in.

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

An excerpt from my first book. A fantasy novel called "By the Sword."

Any feedback welcome. :)

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

I realize that this might not be much help, but there's no wasted time, even when you're not writing. Because as long as you're doing something for the book, you're doing okay. As long as it doesn't die, you're alright. I have three marker boards in my room. I wake up to seeing at least one of them...

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

I throw temper tantrums and blame the world and lose sleep and agonize and glare at the dog. Time seems to be the only thing that works. I've done a few of those ones for sure. I have to side with Claudie here, in that I want to write more when I'm upset. It's an escape to another world almost, but...

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

Well, in this case you need chocolate and retail therapy. Then when you get back to writing you skewer the guy in a cathartic release of literary revenge by making him a victim of your story's villain. Mwahahahaha. LOL this made me laugh so hard!! :P But I care about him too much to do that. Then a...

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

I took a break from writing last night and this morning I woke up with the snow falling and the sun rising. I felt the urge to write again. I realized that the guy I was upset about isn`t worth messing up my writing for. Well, not that anything could mess it up, but I don`t want to waste another val...

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

Sommer Leigh wrote:I read before I write. It doesn't help all the time, but if I sit down and read something I'm excited about and I get my mind engaged in storytelling, it is easier to transition into writing when something is really consuming me.
Thanks! I will try that. :)

Writing When Something Is Consuming You

Okay maybe the title of this thread is a little dramatic...sorry. How do you power through and write when something crazy is going on with you emotionally? I mean, a lot of times when I'm sad I am actually more inspired to write. But there are certain emotions (i.e. Guilt, worry) that seem to hinder...

Re: What's Your Ultimate Writing Dream?

My dream is to be successful enough that all I have to do is write to make a good living. To travel the world and spend months writing in my favourite places. I also hope that my books will eventually be made into movies. That would be pretty sick. Most of all, I hope that people are touched by my b...

Re: What are the odds of getting a literary agent?

Ditto Holly. It's a misleading statistic. From what I've read on a few agent blogs, the majority of queries are either so unintelligible or so off the wall that they're easily rejected. Let's say I took 99 penguins and put them in a room with 1 pigeon, then I told you that only 1% of the birds coul...
