Re: Do you have a new blog post?

Today I introduce the first of the episodic tales, called The Dynamists. This is a leap of faith for me, as mainstream fiction/romance is certainly not my forte. Stop by and check it out, and remember to tell me what you think! http://harbingercodex.blogspot.com/2011 ... rn-p1.html

Re: Silly things we think about

Why are there so many different meanings for the phrase "magic circle?" There's the summoning circle, the cycle of the aura, the magical emblem or item, even the elemental rock-paper-scissors on occasion.

Re: Forum Launch Party for Jacob Wonderbar!

Congratulations, Nathan! I'm amazed that with a schedule as busy as yours, you managed to churn out an entire book (and two more coming, right?)! If only I could work like that...best of luck in all that you do, and I'm looking forward to reading Jacob Wonderbar!

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

It seems to be a trend that whenever something absolutely cannot be allowed to happen, it does. Maybe it's bad karma. Maybe it's misfortune. Maybe it's irony. Whatever it is, the Harbingers are feeling it: http://harbingercodex.blogspot.com/2011 ... tions.html

Re: Running Dialogue

I may be a little late to the party here, but I do have to disagree with Polymath in one way (sorry Poly): If the scene is already slow and contemplative (for example, the characters are relaxing on a lakeshore), running dialogue isn't necessarily a bad thing. If nothing's happening outside of the d...

Re: Writers and Being Lonely

I've never been much of an instrument player (short fingers) but I've always wanted to learn the violin, flute, and piano. Those seem to be the big three; those would be my choices as well (though perhaps replace flute with ocarina). But hey, better short fingers than long, clumsy ones like mine. E...

Re: Writers and Being Lonely

Don't let that discourage you, Sierra. Playing by ear can be just as relaxing, and it's actually easier to memorize something you've created if you don't have notes for it (the mind focuses more on the movements of the fingers, so it learns quicker...? Maybe? That's my experience). Actually I've fou...
