Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

Ok, I feel like I'm taking over this thread. But, good things happen in threes, do they not? I just participated in the April Miss Snark's First Victim Secret Agent Contest (It seriously needs a shorter name). I did not win. BUT another agent was trolling the entries and asked for my query and first...

Re: J.K. Rowling's new book - The Casual Vacancy

I'm going to be the dissenter and say that I thought the blurb sounded really boring. I'm really not interested at all.

Re: QUERY: Untitled YA Post Apocalyptic Novel

Writing your query first person generally is considered a gimmick. Some agents may like it, but other won't. It's a risk. I'm critiquing based on the fact that most agents probably won't. Dear Agent, I am running. Running away from someone that I thought I could trust. A friend. No, that’s not right...

Re: Anyone here write romance ?

First I have to ask, is this fully adult romance? What's the level of explicitness? Also, are you writing from a male or female perspective? The biggest thing for me when I read and write romance/relationships, is that its real. I don't want flowery, over the top language, because that's usually not...

The Illumination by Kevin Brockmeier. A fascinating book with an utterly unique concept and some very beautiful writing.

I would recommend it to anyone!

Re: How long do you take to finish a draft/ WIP?

It greatly depends on my school schedule. My last novel took 6 months for the first draft, but that was because during school, I literally didn't have time to write anything. Most of the drafting was actually done in about a 3-4 week period in the Summer. My revisions for that took about 3 weeks, an...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

SQUEEEE!!!! Okay, so this squee requires backstory. On my recent Spring Break my father unintentionally gave me a fantastic plot idea. I kicked around, wrote a synopsis, and started showing it to my CPs. I also pitched it to my writing group. THEY LOVED IT. The amount of love they showed this book w...

Re: How many books do you read per week (or month)?

It depends on my school schedule. If I'm not busy, I can probably read up to 5 books in a week, but there's other times when I'll go for three weeks without reading anything. Also, I'm drafting again, and I tend to read less when I'm drafting. But I have a Bitterblue ARC that is calling my name. :) CV
