Haha, I do have to take a break after a while. I'll probably have carpal tunnel by the time I'm thirty!

Re: Do you like Hardcovers?

I definitely enjoy hardcover. There's something about them that's fabulous. I always take the jacket off and leave it on the shelf while I'm reading, that way it doesn't annoy me and doesn't get damaged.

But I have nothing against paperback if that's all I can find.

Re: Hand vs. Type

I'm a typer only, although I have a tremendous respect for anyone who can write an entire novel longhand. I never could for one simple reason -- I can't read my own handwriting! It would suck to come to a really important scene and find myself wondering what in the hell I was thinking at the time ....

Re: Naming Characters

I use baby name websites and books, and I just search until something clicks in my head as being the right one. Or sometimes, as with one of my characters, the name came with her. There was never a question about it.

Re: Hand vs. Type

I'm a typist, all the way. I do some outlining by hand, but mostly I use Scrivener so most of my outlining is done on the computer. I'm not opposed to writing by hand, but I can never quite keep up with my brain. I type a whole lot faster, so those snatches of dialogue and action don't just disappe...

Re: Query critique - REVELATION

I didn't read your excerpt yet, I'm planning too, but I don't know if the thing that is on the front page of your website should be the exact same summary that is in your query letter. I was kind of expecting something different upon arrival.

Hand vs. Type

I'm a girl who 99% of the time has to hand write stuff. For some inexplicable reason either the creative flow does not come to me while I'm at the computer, or if it does I'm such a fast typist that I go off on rabbit trails that have no relevance and don't further the story. It's double the work ha...

Reading Rate?

I've been told lately by my friends that I have a really high reading rate, since I'll go to the store and buy 5 books and be done with them within the week. I figured it out and it's a little over a page a minute. (Evidenced today by me going to borders and reading 75 pages of a book in an hour) I ...

Re: Do you write the same genre you read?

As a general rule I will read whatever interests me. Right now I am on a historical fiction/romance kick, so Eva Ibbotson and others like her are my top priority. But I make a point to read a lot of YA and early adult, because I believe that by reading a lot of what you write, you get a better under...

Re: Do you have a writing routine?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Being in college with a crazy schedule such as mine doesn't really lend itself to writing, and then when I do have time I'm so burned out I don't feel like it. Anyone have a solution? I would love to hear from you!

Re: Outline or Out of the Mist?

I'm definately ouot-of-the-mist in the furthest way. For one thing I have to hand write everything first. It makes me go slow enough to form coherent sentences that further the plot. (If I type I go on ridiculous rabbit trails that end up getting cut later) It also first as a first drafting process ...

Re: How many projects do you work on at once?

I'm in the predicament right now. My current project is almost finished and I'm having trouble ending it satisfactorily. Meanwhile other characters are climbing into my head and making room, all the while screaming for my attention. But I am trying my best to keep going on the one project.
