Re: Impatience.

It depends. If I get into the mood, I am totally impatient and will sometimes even work on my MS at work. It is literally all I can think about. Other times, not so much. I let my current MS sit for 6 months while I worked on other ideas that I had formulating in the back of my mind. I went back to ...

Re: Openings

My opening start with one if the characters narrating, kind of like Fenris's opening. I just added it and before that it opened with the MC as he arrives for an important event. One of my WIPs starts with the MC narrating. The book is written like a memoir where the MC is retelling the story. I was ...

Re: Morning Coffee

Also I want to make a million cake balls this week. Oh and someone just dropped off a plate of christmas cookies near my desk. I'm going to be in a sugar coma by 4pm. Cake balls? Those sound delicious. I'm not done with my Christmas stuff either. I haven't wrapped anything yet, and my truffles are ...

Re: Books for Christmas?

I did both two! I gave: Are You There Vodka, Its Me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler to a friend who is a reluctant reader. SuperFreakanomics to my brother Julie and Julia and Clean Food to my stepmother who is a cookbook addict. I asked for mainly books I needed for research only because I know my father...

Re: Writing When Something Is Consuming You

It depends for me. If I am feeling anxious or down, I might avoid my WIP like the plague. I'll do others things, mostly reading or drawing, until I can get recharged to write. Other times I need to be in a dark, weepy mood to write. Then again, I usually end up killing a character in that state. Cho...

Lol. Did you see the Youtube video of Buffy and Edward? If not, you totally should. It is hilarious.

Btw, where did your friend get the mug?

Re: What genre do you read the most?

I also totally agree on the whole vampire thing. The whole brooding, hunky vampire with sensitivity issues is starting to grate on my nerves. It almost makes you want to stake them. That's why my MC does stake them. And shoot them. And blow them up. I'm a peaceful person. Really ... Lol. I mean, I ...

Re: Your Editing Tricks

I color code my revisions. I have three colors to show each stage of revision, so I can see what I did the day before. I rotate the colors, and when I come back to the first one, I make all the older text black like the rest of the MS. As far as stuff I am thinking of deleting, I highlight it. I nev...

Re: Am I going crazy? Didn't I change that?

Totally had that happen. It is usually when I have written new scenes though. Maybe it was just deja vu of an idea that I had never actually written down and thought I did.
But yea, I've fixed things only to have people point them out later. Word, you wily program, stop messing with my MS!

Re: How do terrible books get published?

Speaking of people eating books (although not chocolate book forts), Arlo Guthrie tells a story about when his father, Woody was in a mental hospital. This was before they knew what HD was, so they diagnosed him as crazy. Anyways, he was trying to convince the doctors that he was a famous folksinge...

Re: How do terrible books get published?

A chocolate book fort, Cookie? I've heard of computers eating books, and readers devouring books, but I never took it literally... WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I'M GETTING WORKED UP, FENRIS! I never said Harold Bloom wasn't entitled to his own opinion, but now I've changed my mind. Harold Bloom ISN'T entit...
