Re: Novel Idea feedback

So, I wrote a quick blurb of a novel I'm considering writing. The problem? I keep waffling back and forth on my idea. At one point, I love it, then I hate it, then I wonder if I need to raise the stakes, then I wonder if I should write from both female and male viewpoints (which I've never done. My...

Re: Agent has full. Should I sent a revised manuscript?

Personally, I wouldn't. I think it could make you seem a little desperate and not very professional.

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments

my opinion is it's unprofessional. Imagine doctors tweeting about their pain-in-the ass patients. I have a retail business, and there are times I'd like to publicly let off steam about difficult customers, but I don't. It's not a matter of outing someone's stupidity; it's a question of whether you ...

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments

It doesn't bother me, as long as no identifying info about either the novel or the author makes it in. (and I mean specifics, like character names and so on) I have yet to understand why so many people are pissed about it, really.

Re: Should I get an agent before submitting to a small press?

I am curious if Moonrat's advice applies to very small presses, like Candlemark and Gleam. They're only E book at the moment and their terms seem quite straightforward, whereas EdAss seems to be talking about working directly with the NY big guys.

Re: Do any of you other unpublished authors have websites?

My website might soon be going to solely being my blog. I'm starting culinary school and I'm wondering if there's a need for an online portfolio/professional presence in that regard. Rather than sign up for a free website service for one, or make a generic website that can host both writing-related...

"If it exists in society there is a way to write about it"

so very much this.

Re: Social responsiblity (the greater good) and the author

At a certain point, I have no control over how my writing will be used, just as scientists have no control over their research once it is published. (I am both writer and scientist, so I guess I am doubly screwed!) I would like it to be used for a number of things, not least of which is entertainmen...

Re: Social responsiblity and the author

For me, it's a middle ground. You should not struggle to make your work more all inclusive, for example, if you do not believe in that. Every author puts some of themselves in to their work, for good or ill, and at a certain point if you try and revise all traces of your opinion out of a work it wil...
