Re: (This thread is not yet titled)

Sometimes as I'm world-building, in all the randomness, various title ideas will come to me. Other times I have to think and think (a la Winnie the Pooh) and finally land on something that is a good place holder. And then there are the times that magic just happens and I land on a title. But I don't...

Re: Post Your Genre Here!

Oracles Promise, high fantasy
Lodestar, contemporary/urban fantasy

I've written romance and have an adventure novel in the works, too. (The joys of being unpublished.)

Re: Favorite Part of Writing

I love the world-building. It's the one point in the process where anything is a possibility. I love the freedom it gives me. I tend to get very bogged down in what will or won't work when I'm drafting that I don't always feel free to just let things happen in an organic way. But I do when I'm world...

Re: Important Announcement About Page Critiques, 8/16/10

Do what you feel is best. I've enjoyed the feature, despite not commenting. For some reason the posts from your blog don't show up in my Google reader for several hours after you've posted them so usually by the time I get to it what I might have to say has been said. Today was the first time I'd co...

Re: Do any of you other unpublished authors have websites?

I have a website, but I benefit more from the non-static media like a blog and Twitter. I don't think it's a requirement for fiction writers to have a site before becoming agented, but it gives potential agents another means of finding you on the internet when you query them. (And I've read several ...

Forum icons?

Does anyone know what all the different forum icons mean? I figured out that it goes red if there's a new post. And that the star means you posted in that thread.

But the scrolling vs. non-scrolling? That's the one that's bothering me most. And there's no key down at the bottom of the forum.

*hugs*

Look at it this way, there's not another Friday the 13th the whole rest of the year. So the rest of 2010 can only go up from here, right? *hugs* again.

Re: Public Service Announcement

It's the same as bullies, I think. They see the faults in others and pushing others down helps them to ignore the same faults in themselves and somehow feel better about themselves. Everyone has their strengths and weakness. But they either choose to play to the strengths and work to improve the wea...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Just signed up in the forums. I'm Stephanie. I'm a fairy novice writer (hence the title of my blog) still searching for my voice and that place where I just connect to my writing. I'm experimenting a lot with genre trying to find where I fit best. There are 3 novels sitting in my hard drive at the m...

How do you pick a beta?

Maybe this isn't the right place for it, but I'm new. How do y'all go about choosing a beta? I've recently asked a close writing friend to beta for me, and sent the ms to my brother for non-writerly feedback. But I've never reached the beta stage before this and I'm worried. I don't know if my one b...
