Re: 10 reasons e-books might not eat the world

I was all set to completely disagree with you, but then I read no. 2. How's an author going to sign an e-reader? I do like my e-reader for a lot of reasons. I don't have to go to the bookstore as much, and I can get a book in sixty seconds. That saves me a lot of time. I have no problem with going t...

Re: Are you a Crafter or an Artist?

I'm definitely a crafter. I desire not only that people see my work but also that it gets the recognition it deserves. Yes, we can get along. I have plenty of friends that are artists. Yet that nasty disagreement will always rear its ugly head.

Re: Favorite Part of Writing

My favorite part of writing is coming up with the rough draft. I employ the seat-of-my-pants technique, usually blowing my own mind on what I can come up with. Editing is tedious work, in my humble opinion.

Also a "No" from me on telepathy. I don't want uncensored thoghts. Definitely invisibility. This would help me be part of things I normally wouldn't be invited to, which is very intriguing.

Re: Writing a Character Who is Smarter Than You

Hmm. I'm leery about this subject because of what Stephen King said in On Writing: a Memoir of the Craft about learning your words through reading. Otherwise, also according to The Elements of Style by Strunk and White, it's like "dressing up your pet in human clothes." I've learned from critiques n...

Re: likeability factor (Mad Men)

I don't know, SeeSee. I write horror and have no problem with the protagonst being the antagonist. The only answer I can think of is the one they've beat into my head: if the protag's not likeable, how can the reader be interested in the story? I guess it makes them feel like a dirty voyuer to read ...

Re: How'd you come up with that?

I usually let an idea come to me because, if I force myself to write something, it doesn't blow me away and probably won't blow anyone else away either. Every once in a great while I'll take advantage of a prompt and come away satisfied, but most of the time I'll wait for an idea that's hard-hitting...

Re: competition may negatively affect creativity

Competition always makes me work harder. When I friend other authors and peruse their phenomenal work, it makes me think hard about giving the editor exactly what he wants instead of being unoriginal or writing something too off-the-wall. Also, the rejections I've recieved in the past let me know th...
