Re: Slow-ass query response?

If it 'shuts down' in August does anyone know when it officially reopens so to speak? I didn't know the etiquette for posting about other agents/agencies by name here since I'm a newbie so I omitted the agent's name figuring you'd know who it was if you had queried her and then checked her blog- I m...

Re: Slow-ass query response?

Could it have something to do with the fact I remember Eric at PMN posting a little while back that summer was slower in publishing and it might be a good time to query (or something to that effect...) I remember reading recently that at least one agent recently lost a bunch of queries to an email d...

Re: Rejection Stats

Take dictation from your characters, not a whole lot of agent blogs that disagree with each other in any case. Thanks Blanche and J.T.! I love what you said J.T. because that is actually the tag line on my blog- the characters are in control, I just taking dictation . When it's really working they'...

Re: Rejection Stats

Is there a reason why you only sent out two queries for the first MS? Is it because you think if it doesn't get you an agent within the first two queries, you'll never get an agent? You should have stopped after 100+ queries, not +2. EVERY bestseller authors out there have been rejected more than t...

Re: So who's entering Nathan's first page contest?

Flash fiction sounds like so much fun I am going to have to try that soon... I just have to clarify that I didn't mean to imply in any way that people who don't feel ready or up to putting their entries up are less than anyone who does- not at all. It is a terrifying thing to do and no one should do...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

Ooo, fun! Can't wait to check out what you've all posted. Today, after seven months of reading every blog my bleary, half-sighted eyes could handle (and only actually sending out three queries in total) in a moment of pure writerly angst over all the seemingly conflicting advice and disheartening st...

Re: So who's entering Nathan's first page contest?

I did though I have no wild dreams of the generator picking mine. I just don't have any luck with stuff like this or contests in general. Honestly, the reason I put mine up there is because I admire everybody else who did (and all the folks who put their hearts out there in the action contest last w...

Re: Rejection Stats

Man, I'm only doing this because I seem to be frozen and trying to get up the courage to send out another round of potential (likely) rejections. Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone, I really do appreciate it. I have to break this up to show you the dumb things I did so that others may lea...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Well since I can't seem to stay away from the blog comments no matter how hard I try, I figured I'd better start doing things properly around here. Hi, I'm February. Like everyone else here, I'm a writer. Difference between us and so many other people out there who write in hiding is that we're will...
