Re: My new website is ready

Wow, Matt, congrats! It looks all kinds of pretty, not to mention simple and efficient. I have to say, I'm dying with curiosity about the images in the background. Are they related to your books? Because they are incredible. (I couldn't find a copyright so I figure they belong to you? If not I'm not...

Re: Why I'm On This Forum

We sure are! And I bet we could still help (some) with plotting questions. There are elements of storytelling that just don't change from one medium to the next. For the record, I think you should feel free to post about your hurdles in the "Coffee Shop" thread in All Things Writing. It's been a thr...

Re: When writing isn't your full-time job.

Well, I'm a student, so my situation isn't quite the same as having a 40-hours stressful time. Right now I work 30-35 hours at a back-breaking (because I have to be standing all the time) job, though, and when I come home I'm exhausted. And yet on most days I take a hour to eat and relax, then I sit...

Re: What do you do when an idea takes over?

I do as most others have said when the brainflash strikes: I write it down, along with all I can think of, in a writerly notebook (if it's very short, I have a tiny calepin with "Very Good Ideas" written on it). Then I go back to my main project. And I wait for NaNoWriMo/Script Frenzy/Camp NaNo, whi...

AH Sommer I wish I was going with you too! I'd love to attend the post-apo ones too. They might help me reboot and finish my only french project.

Yay, Margo! Although I agree with Sommer: I miss the occasional tweet of evil.

Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY

Graeme: I have a writer friend who plans to open a coffee-shop-library in the next 3-4 years. Kind of like Chapters, but French and smaller (I'm from Quebec City, and there is no Chapters here) Of course all my local writer friends plan to invade the place all year long. ^^

Re: Are Publishers Going Too Far?

I'm kind of in the "Don't really mind" clan. I'm not going to read them and my initial reaction when I learned about this was to facepalm. They're going in it for the money and I put readapting these classics into erotica at about the same level as, say, deciding they'd do a 4th Indiana Jones movie....

Re: Family interference

This is me almost exactly. Except my husband isn't getting his PhD. He just works a lot. He's really supportive, but with two young kids and house to keep semi-clean, I get little time to write. Almost no uninterupted time except late at night. But you learn to adapt. Make do with the time you have...

Re: Soundtrack?

Hum... Anything Mumford & Sons. They became so thoroughly associated with my current WIP that if I hear them play, it'll make me eager to write. It started because 1) I am batshit groupie in love with their music (I tend to obsess about things I like, for the record) and 2) the lyrics from on...

Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY

So guys! We're past the midmonth mark now and I was wondering how you were all doing on the writerly front (well, really, on all fronts). I've had a good month with minor setbacks (like, y'know, realising you really need to rewrite the WHOLE Part 3, and that you should also reoutlining it to make su...

, but not if people are nearby, or especially if they're right behind me. I love that! Haha, yes, me too. And I also have the same problem. I can't write if someone is close enough to read, even if they aren't reading. It's just... what if ? And whether I'm writing Nano-crap, a paper for school and...

Re: The Introduction Thread

'Allo. As the 'nym suggests, I'm in the process of making a rather significant leap from one type of writing to another. Don't worry, I haven't quit my day job. In any case, I've been noodling around Nathan's website for awhile, and figured now's as good a time as any to jump in and start building ...
