Re: Teenage Writers?

Hey! I'm a teenage writer :) Just started college. I hadn't really considered getting published until the beginning of this year. First, I didn't know ANY possible way to do that, and second, I didn't think I could. Then I got my first legit critique partner and was like...whoa, I think I could do t...

Re: (This thread is not yet titled)

Oh my gosh, I never have titles while they're WIPs. I can't ever think of any! When I send it off to betas, we usually just call it the main character's name as a "nickname" (yeah, we're real creative). I'm horrible at thinking of titles. I wish I could come up with awesome ones! Grr. Now I'm feelin...

Re: Naming / Numbering -- Help???

Well, I'm just throwing this in here since you already found out about the random name generator's awesomeness haha, but I think your story sounds really cool! And I'd definitely keep the names for the domes, since it seems you have been using the names for them longer. For the people in the experim...

Re: How long did it take you to write your Manuscript?

My recently complete WIP took me around four months to write. I thought of the beginning and started it in January, but then finished working on something else until April. I came back to the idea then, and just finished it at 74,000 words! I do minor edits as I write, but am starting revisions very...

How much should I specify genre?

I've been thinking about the branding concept and labeling WIPs certain genres a lot lately, and I can't help but feel like my just completed WIP's genre is, like, vague. To me, it seems more as plain YA fiction, but there's a slight dystopian twist that throws me off. It does play a big part, but c...

Re: How do you celebrate finishing a book?

Hahah I love all of these! Well, I JUST finished...and I've told everybody who cares, and doesn't care, and have been thinking...whoa. I'm FINISHED!!!! hahah But no, to celebrate, I'm giving the ending to my friend, getting excited all over again with her, planning on not writing for a good week, an...

Re: How many people do you query?

I started with my favourites but I think next time I will start with some in the middle for feedback. I only have 20 on my list and the faves are only faves as they have authors I love and can compare to, its not like the others looked awful from their website or anything. How do you pick faves? I ...

Re: How many people do you query?

Haven't started yet, but I've got a list of basically my top twenty agents I plan to query. I'm just going to throw this question in here for any of you who have already started :) Do you suggest working your way up to your absolute favorite agent to query? That's the one thing I can't decide on. If...

Re: Who has read your WIP?

I have two beta readers and a few specific friends that read my stuff. For me, this is the perfect amount. I'm able to keep everything organized with edits and revisions, but at the same time get enough different views to get a great overall critique. I also love how each one of them is completely d...

Re: How'd you come up with that?

Don't you love when that happens? Haha I do! Pretty much at random times for me. Or, sometimes, the characters will start forming in the back of my mind and I have to figure out their lives...and then the plot comes to me. Other times it's dreams that spark something. I think the most fun part of it...
