Re: The care and feeding of an introvert

I can honestly say I don't know which I am. I need my alone time but I also need to constantly be around people. I can't sit and write all day if I know I'm not doing anything that afternoon and at the same time I can't go out/go shopping/do coffee if I know my day will be full of company. Very weir...

Re: Friday the 13th

I'm moving stores but it's a good thing. So maybe we should switch the beer for champagne?

Re: Friday the 13th

Oh no. Maybe I should have held back the sweeties... And Mira, it's very possible I may be having a bad day today also (apart from the fact most of it will be spent sleeping). I have the big bosses coming in and moving us managers around to different stores. Every other time they come in it's ended ...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND WRITE-OFF

I want to add at least writer a new chapter for each of my current WsIP. At the very least I want Addy completely planned out (which counts too, right?).

*I just realised this is the weekend I'll be at WorldCon. My new goal is to get the attention of at least one agent.

Re: 8 Days Until MOCKINGJAY!!!

I'm trying to convince myself 8 days isn't a long time. It really isn't. But I still cant help but browse the books hoping (but knowing it's impossible) that it will be there. A new post sounds good. I hate being spoiled with books I love. Last time it happened I threw the book at someone. It was Or...

Well I'd let you borrow them Ink, but I don't think they're your size. Or style.
If Nathan has a twitter party, I'll buy everyone virtual drinks. Okay?

Re: 10 reasons e-books might not eat the world

I'm with you Margo (sorry Mira) in that I hands-down prefer paper books. I believe ereaders I'll be a massive part of our literary future but I'd lament the day books ceased to exist. Whenever my friends and I meet up to go shopping, without discussion we end up at Borders. First. Way more sociable ...

Re: Friday the 13th

Wow, that sucks for both of you. But Harper, especially you. I however, had a really amazing day. Lots of shopping with my friends, dinner with the boyfriend, my mum finally bought me these really cute pair of shoes I've been drooling over AND I got a 'form' rejection. BUT it didn't worry me. Sorry ...

My current is 'A life in Death'. Don't know how good it sounds by itself but if you've read my query it makes sense. If not, I just really don't know...

Re: Series Novels: Why should the first one have to stand alone?

All these points are a lot to think about but I agree with Mira on writing something how it is meant to be written. I'm planning a few series at the moment and that's how I've written the books. Tolkien wrote LotR as one book. His publisher suggested splitting it to make it more accessible. Original...

Love ANZAC day. It's the only day playing 2-up is legal in Australia. And there's the dawn ceremony and the march. It has a very 'national pride' feel about it. Not to mention everyone heads from the ceremonies to the local pub. Australia is usually roaring drunk by 9am. Then there's Australia day -...

Re: 17 Days Until MOCKINGJAY!!!

Well Borders assures me they will be getting it on the 24th but let's just wait and see. Every other release they've been a month behind. I'll need to get it on the day so I can have it read and out of my mind before I go to Melbourne in September.

Re: Wackiest "advice"/comments you've gotten from non-writers

I was editing the other day and my boyfriend was reading over my shoulder. I changed one word to another and his reaction was 'why didn't you just write that in the first place?' I then tried to explain voice and pacing but at his blank look I just gave up. He tries really hard to be interested but ...

Re: SENTENCE STRUCTURE

I spend a fair bit of time on sentence structure - I never get it right first go. I like everything to have a rhythm and if a paragraph messes up, I scrap it and start again. But I too, have no delusions about being the next Hemmingway. It's more of an obsessive compulsive tick.
