Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

Josin wrote "No. That's why Christian said it was all real, and why they all had memories of the island. They didn't die in the crash, they died at separate times and waited for each other in sideways world." I'll concede that point, although with a slightly different rationalization after re-watch...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

I think they all died when 815 crashed the first time. The first scene in the pilot episode was Jack waking up in purgatory; the final scenes of the crashed plane on the beach make me think the crash itself was real. The island represented God, providing choices for either salvation or damnation. Ja...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

I don't know about you, but I would have been throwing a lot of wood onto Jacob's tiny fire.

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

Is Smokey REALLY Jacob's brother, or is it no more Jacob's brother than it is John Locke?

It would be funny if they ended each episode like the old sitcom SOAP...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

I liked the good guy / bad guy bait-and-switch between Jacob and the Man in Black last night. Richard et al are frustrated with Jacob because he won't provide answers, but it seems that Jacob has no answers to provide. Back int he real world, one of the "leaked" spoiler documents was a casting call ...

I think they are parallel dimensions, and they will not converge. Here are links to an excellent video (parts 1 and 2) that will help you visualize up to 10 dimensions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkxieS-6WuA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySBaYMESb8o&feature=related I think this is important to ...

Re: Critique/Review Sites and Groups

For query critiques, try The Public Query Slushpile at http://openquery.blogspot.com I am the blog moderator, and I usually post submissions same day. Feedback is typically fast and thorough. It's a friendly forum, not a venue for snarky shredding. I recently started another blog called crtiXchange ...

Re: Favorite Wii Games?

I like the Wii Sports that comes with the system. I'm pretty good at bowling. My wife can KO the entire household in boxing, and my older son (8) is the tennis champ. We've had Guitar Hero III for a while, and both my sons play that. Watching the 5-year old hold the guitar over his head when he fini...

Re: Music or quiet when you write?

I can filter out background noise in airports, on airplanes, and at my son's wrestling practice. Music doesn't bother me, but TV is very distracting. The worst interruptions to my writing are questions from my wife and kids. They break the train of thought completely. I find it difficult to write if...

Re: Does anyone write humor?

Many people have told me that my blog posts are funny, and one of my W's in P is a humor novel. I find that when I try to be funny, I'm not (my wife will attest to this) and when I just relax and let the words flow my inner smart-ass often takes over. The challenge is reigning that in so I can make ...

Re: Do stories have to end well?

I can't say that your description is enough to go on to confirm that it works; we'd probably have to read the entire manuscript to know for sure. I can say that I like tragic or horrific endings when they are done well. I thought the writers of the show DEXTER were very brave in their ending for thi...

Re: Books and Movies Based on Them

I haven't seen THE ROAD yet, but I've read the book twice and I'm eager to watch the movie. I enjoyed WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, and so did both of my sons (ages 8 and 5). I think STAND BY ME is one of the best book (novella)-to-film adaptations. THE SUM OF ALL FEARS ranks as the all-time worst on m...

Re: Trouble defining genre

Picking the right genre can be simple. Just think like a reader: If you went to buy your book at the bookstore, where would you go to look for it? Bookstores are divided up into sections. Where would you go to look for your funny but heartwarming tale of love? Humor, literary fiction, or romance? Go...
