Re: PREDICT THE NEXT BIG YA GENRE

I agree with Jana, angels and demons (fallen angels, angels on earth, etc) is most likely the next "trend" in YA

Till or 'til?

I've seen this a few times reading and critiquing. Which one is supposed to be used when saying, "The game isn't 'til four" ??? Till or 'til? I'm leaning on 'til.

Re: Is present tense ever okay?

I'm reading Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, and it is in first person. I actually didnt realize it was in first person until I was half way through and then it hit me...
I think its the story and writing that is what counts most, not if its written in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...

Best!

Abandoned. I stood motionless in the emergency room. “She’s gone,” was the only explanation I got from Dr. McBaldy. He didn’t even let me see her body.

thanks! I've written that sentence 50 times or more. That's last week's version and I'm quite happy with it but that's always subject to change.
Amen to that! I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm going through a major overhaul myself. Best of luck!

Re: What do you "do"?

I wish I could say I "do" just one thing. Lets see, I was a local talk show host. Then I created launched my own consumer product and licensed it. I became a PR professional shortly after, and currently I manage my husband's IT firm. All this while raising 2 beautiful kids.

I have wondered the same thing. Is it alright to query an agent prior to finishing the manuscript?
