Re: What do you "do"?

I've taught for 37 years. The first 18 years I worked in the public schools as a speech pathologist and the last 19 I've been a resource teacher/literacy in the upper elementary, middle grades...all of that and I'm still just 58...so maybe...I've got a few years left to write. If I'd only kept a jou...

Going again for .I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU ANYWAY

All of the comments have been so helpful and I won't give up...so here is a different take....see what you think. I'm just posting the body of the query this time. Presley O’Connor expects a memorable senior year. What she doesn’t expect is the letter that arrives on her eighteenth birthday with he...

Re: Maybe 3rd time is the charm..I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU ANYWAY

Yoshima,

thank you for the encouraging words. I'm working on the query and will repost later. I've loved this story for...years...and yes, getting your senior picture in the mail along with a promise someone would "see" you...was creepy to say the least.

Re: Maybe 3rd time is the charm..I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU ANYWAY

thanks Joel for the info on posting and your comments. in the last paragraph where I had prison, it should have been jail...that's the way it is in the story. Arrested on Christmas Eve and the break out happens on July 4th...just before the trial is to begin. I'm beginning to see hope in an actual q...

Re: Favorite quote

Mira, I love quotes, too. Here's just two I don't think have been posted yet. Never let the fear of striking out get in your way. Babe Ruth (strike out king/home run king) Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest...

Re: MG Novel Query

I've just read through all the comments and agree with what's been said...I'm just posting to say I teach upper elementary/middle grade students and this sounds like something my kids would love. Great story. Just keep going....it will be great.

Maybe 3rd time is the charm..I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU ANYWAY

I'm liking it more and more. I couldn't do this without all the great comments. so do your best now. Just a side note for interest. The idea for this story has been with me for....cough,cough...40 years! During my senior year, I received a letter...not quite as threatening..with my senior picture.....

Re: Query: VALENTINE

So, this is mine. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. And thank you! Dear Specific Agent, Nineteen-year-old Adam has just failed a suicide attempt. His five-year-old sister, Evelyn, saw him bleeding on the floor pressing a gun to his head. Every night, Adam tucks her into bed and hopes to find a w...

Re: Revised query, Paranormal romance, I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU AN

I really appreciate all your comments and words of encouragement. I do like this much better and I have struggled with that last paragraph. There is definitely more conflict at the end....the man that tried to kill her escapes from prison and abducts her...this time he is almost too late.....I think...

Revised query, Paranormal romance, I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU AN

Again I say thanks for your comments. I always fight with myself over how much to tell and still make the agent want to know more. In my story the man who tries to kill her escapes from prison and comes back at the end of the novel, making one last attempt to kill her...of course no spell worth its ...

new query for I WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU ANYWAY, PLEASE HELP

I'm being slowly tortured by the Query Demon....so any help, suggestions will be appreciated. I have no problems with criticism, so do your best. (Just a note on the word count. when I completed the first draft it was 134,000 words...I never tell a short story...and I've revised to 103,000). maybe s...

Re: How old are you?

Well, I was right...or so it looks...unless there is still someone hiding out there. I just joined tonight and in my first post in the intro thread I alluded to my age....so for all those counting on their fingers and toes...I'm 58. will be 59 in August. but as long as I don't look in the mirror I'm...
