Re: Query for RONNIE FOR REAL *needs new eyes*

I think you could improve this last line by being more specific with what's going on. What is Michael doing that is vengeful and what are Marco's immigration issues? Something like "But with Michael leaving death threats in her inbox and the INS sniffing around Marco's paperwork, Ronnie wonders if ...

Re: Query for RONNIE FOR REAL *needs new eyes*

What would you all suggest in place of the ellipses? I was thinking about semi-colons but that wouldn't really work as far as the last clause goes. I'm not sure.

Anyway, updated version is up now. Thank you!

Re: Query for RONNIE FOR REAL *needs new eyes*

Thanks, wilderness and Rebecca.

I just posted a new, pretty different version on the original post... I decided I needed to re-do it based on your comments and Nathan's recent query blog.

Re: What are you reading now?

I just finished WINTER GARDEN by Kristin Hannah. It was amazing! I've never read any of her older books, but now I definitely will. I highly recommend this book!

Re: Rate your WiP Titles!

The novel I'm currently querying: THE FOUNTAIN'S EDGE - YA fantasy (retelling of Beauty and the Beast) Current WIPs: WEBBED - YA fantasy POPINJAY - YA fantasy I really like WEBBED and POPINJAY -- they're both original and one word titles (I like one word titles). Especially Popinjay. I just like ho...

Re: Rate your WiP Titles!

Thanks for the compliments on Ronnie for Real!

Jaded, I really like the first one... Nipples: The Cold Hard Truth. That's hilarious.

And for the non-fiction humor one, I like it... but have you considered "...How My Fat Self Ate My Skinny One"? Instead of "Fat Gene"?

Re: Wackiest "advice"/comments you've gotten from non-writers

Without fail, people will bring up so-and-so, a friend of a friend, who writes lovely children's books but can't get them published. So, yeah, "good luck getting it published" is the best (unsolicited) advice people can give me, apparently.

Whatever, I'll show them...

Re: Rate your WiP Titles!

My WIP is titleless and I need sympathy because I can't think of anything good. My top choices right now are: RONNIE FOR REAL or GOLD SO BRIGHT. I have no idea, really. Are you kidding? RONNIE IN HIGH SCHOOL is golden. It's so retro its ultra-mod. Serious. Who wouldn't pick it up? Er... You're bein...

Re: Rate your WiP Titles!

Gunmetal Gray & When the Storm Birds Fly both sound awesome to me. Good job. I'm jealous. I'm a Nobody - GOOD. I almost forgot it was just someone's WIP and not a book I'd seen on a shelf. Just Another Fairytale - I like the word fairytale in the title but I'm not sure about "Just Another" Monster U...

Re: The Super Incredible Pre-Agent Tester!

I would read the pages. Possibly a partial request. But the query, as the others have said, is a bit vague. I think Vitiosus should be introduced (by name) much earlier. The story still grabbed me and sounded like an interesting read. I know it's a fine line between throwing around too many proper n...
