Re: The rules of "stronger" writing... lol?

You need... Clarity, authority, good story telling, and flow. I'd agree on all. I think people are making a big deal out of authority. I've read books where the protagonist was somewhat passive (LOOKING FOR ALASKA) and unsure of him/herself, but it was a great book nevertheless. You need to get rid...

Re: Okay, be honest…how crappy is your first draft?

My first draft wasn't "total shit" or "horribad", but it definitely wasn't good.

The rules of "stronger" writing... lol?

Today I received a mail from my brand new critique partner whom I found here. She provided INCREDIBLE feedback! Very insightful and constructive, but very nitpicky. And I love nitpicky, because I'm a perfectionist, and I realized all the little things I had missed that COULD make the novel stronger....

Re: Favorite drink while writing (or procrastinating)?

When I lived in Europe I bought this machine: http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-ESAM3300-Magnifica-Super-Automatic-Espresso/dp/B000N2YKQ0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1274759722&sr=8-6 I paid half the price... and then brought it back home with me when I moved back home. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A...

My best friend's brother works for Google, they're apparently having a major revamp about it... they received many complaints!

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

Rumors are that the guy cast as Eko was fired for whatever reason, and couldn't find it in them to bring him back on the show.

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

So, did they pull it off??? I stopped watching in the middle of season two. I felt sure they were just making it up as they went along, and I figured they'd never make it work, not in a million, zillion, trillion years. Not unless someone woke up in a shower and it was a dream. Did they? If they di...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

The smoke man wasn't evil incarnate at all... that's the bullshit Jacob was spoonfed and then went on to feed to others, but he himself had no frickin' idea what was true or not. Their mother murdered an innocent woman, then Jacob went on to kill his brother in cold blood. The MIB killed a murdered,...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

SXbrase, I thought the purgatory wasn't created until the hydrogen bomb had exploded? Because if the ENTIRE show was the premise that everyone had died in the crash already, and the whole show was just their experience of trying to get through Heaven prepared, it would stink a lot. I understand the ...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

It was postulated that the island's energy had an effect on pregnant women, killing them when they gave birth.

It was never explained beyond that.

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

I'm actively writing in other threads on other forums, the consensus right now is this: -Everything that happened was real -Those who died during the shows were sent to some sort of purgatory -Eventually when all (or most) of them all died, they were reunited so they could cross over to heaven toget...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

Someone on TV.com just brought up the ending where they showed the empty beach with the crash scene, and they were no camps. It was either an homage to say bye, or it was the writer's way of saying "everyone died in the crash, and all of it happened in the after life", which would be THE. WORSE. END...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

It was a cheap ending (as in easy), but it was BEAUTIFUL for sure. If the sideways was the afterlife/heaven, where are they suppose to go now? Jack's father opened the big doors, and it was all white. They're "moving on" to where, the after-after life? I like the idea that they all waited until EVERY...
