Re: teenage writers!!
Hi Nathan,
thank-you very much for the advice, the blog was very helpful :-)
I picked up on a comment someone made and wondered whether they are right in saying that young people shouldn't mention their age when approaching agents?
thanks,
Hannah

Re: 1st person to 3rd person
That is actually a very good point as when I read the book I was really irritated with the change...however my idea is to develop the idea of what is going on that the main character doesn't no about in order to develop the plot without having to have everything spelled out for the main chatacter. I...

Re: 1st person to 3rd person
You see I was going to have a one off chapter from the perspective of the 'bad guy' whilst the 'good guy' is unconcious, a little bit of explanation and a lot of suspense....but i think my own doubt is probably the answer lol. Thanks for the link, i'll take a look!!!

teenage writers!!
Hi Nathan, I am 17 years old and from the uk and I have almost finished the first draft of my story, its the fifth full length manuscript I've written and the first that I feel as equally excited about at the end as I did at the beginning and so I'm hoping (after I've re-drafted many times) to seek ...

Re: Do y'all do this?
Haha, I have to admit that I don't....I just imagine what it would feel like, I mean for the big stuff I can't very well, por exmaple, create a time machine and exprerience that to write about and tbh i have found that the minute details I use are more descriptive and what I see in my minds eye, wha...

Re: Does anyone ever lose that spark?
I go through phases sometimes with my writing, usually I have two months of writing insesintly, cool off for a week or two and then end up doing loads of writing again. I think the creative part of my brain needs a break sometimes....but I would sya to walk away from a story thinking you'll go back ...

1st person to 3rd person
Ok, I'm having a little problem....I am currently 250 pages into my story and am at a point where I would like to add in a 3rd person section from the perspective of the 'bad guy', however my story has been totally in 1st person from the perspective of the heroine. Is this ok to do? Do I keep the 1s...
Re: Length
Thanks for that.
I'm not sure how to pin it down better, I'm 17 so I probably write for that sort of age, but the themes probably mid teens, so would that be YA, mid teens?

Length
Hello!
I have just finished my first draft of a YA/teenage novel I have been writing for a year now and was wondering whether the length is ok.
It currently stands at 56000 words and is fifteen chapters long.
It is for ages of about 12/13 up to late teens.
Thanks peeps :-)

Re: Can you read while you write?
I can do both, in fact I tend to be reading several books at a time and it has no effect on my writing. What I do struggle with is keeping my current emotions out of my writing...if I'm sad, my charcters are sad etc.

Should you share your writing before it's finished?
Other than my dad and my best friend I have NEVER shown anyone what I'm working on atm, I'm about a third of the way through and was wondering if you think it's a good idea to get people to read over your work as your going?
Thanks,
Hannah

Re: What author would you have dinner with/what would you ask?
No one tbh, they say you should never meet your heroes and I think for JK and Meyer I have such high expectations that I could only be dissapointed, if I ever did get to meet them I would be too star struck to be speak anyways!
