Re: Women's Fiction Recommendations
I'd love to give some recommendations, but I have to admit that I remain confused about what actually falls into the genre of "women's fiction." Off the top of my head, I wanted to recommend Tracy Chevalier's "Remarkable Creatures," but maybe that is really historical fiction. Li...

Re: The Land Doesn't Leave
First, I really like the title. I think this opening shows a lot of promise, but needs a bit of streamlining. I like your initial description, but the first sentence was so long I had to read it a few times over to get it. I would break it up or cut it some. Also, I found the description of the girl...

Re: So who's entering Nathan's first page contest?
I entered, and I only have a few other comments posted. Sorry if this bothers anyone - I am pretty new to this site, and am so swamped with other items of life (kids, work), that by the time I get to read Nathan's blog post there are already so many comments posted that I can't imagine anyone would ...

Title: Letters from Hong Kong Genre: Literary Fiction (word count: 250) Chapter 1 South China Sea 1846 I woke to the swell of the sea. The small, dank cabin was cold and full of Mother’s troubled tossing, Father’s steady breaths. I longed for air. Crisp, clean air after a new fallen snow. But there ...
