Dost mine ears deceive me? Speakest thou of widgets? Pray tell, where might such beasts be found?!?!?

Re: Nanowrimo

Hi all!

I'll be doing NaNoWriMo this year, too. I'll be spending October plotting. I'll be doing basically a 90-day-novel, with the first half of the writing during November. It's certainly a great way to buckle down!

I'm gallaure over there, for whoever wants to be buddies.

Re: JA Konrath

This. Without a platform to attract potential customers/readers, you won't sell many (or any) eBooks. Joe's latest posts on his blog seem to be suggesting that anyone can make good sales if they follow his publishing model, but it's not that simple. People need to know your book exists before they ...

Re: JA Konrath

I love Nathan's POV on all this, and I'm impressed by Joe. I'm actually thinking of trying some of this Kindle jazz out. An hour a day of my internet farting-about could be used as my hour a day of promotion, blog posting, etc. I'm actually working on a grand experiment, which will involve an ebook ...

Awesome :)
"F'ing brilliant" is my Protag's catch phrase. She uses it like some people use "cool" or "Rad". I think that MS word catching this is hilarious.

Re: The importance (and difficulty) of gestures

Ok, I just had to post my 10-sentence summary as done by Microsoft Word. Please be warned, it has sweary-type words in it. .ahem. . . . . . . . . " The blank door opened. Fucking brilliant. Fucking brilliant." Shit. "Shit. "No problem." "Uh - yeah." "Um, thank...

Re: The importance (and difficulty) of gestures

This is horribly embarrassing (and funny) but since it showed me this exact thing about an early part of my first draft, I just have to show you. Word has an "AutoSummarize" feature, which I guess takes the most common words and phrases in whatever block of text you give it and somehow ma...

Re: Dealing with Perfectionism

Hi there! First, get this into your head. First drafts all kind of suck. Especially in the beginning of your career. Stephen King's first drafts suck less, but that's because he's been THE Stephen King for 30 years. You ain't there yet. I have a novel, and it needs a rewrite, too, with major plot up...

Re: Lost -- Numbering System

Jack is #23... which was the row he sat in on the plane. Also, other people were assigned too (in the cave) and now in the lighthouse. 4- Locke, 8-Reyes, 15-Ford, 16-Jarrah, 23-Shephard, 42-Kwon. But why no women? Kate's number on the Wheel was 51, I think. In my opinion that rules her out as a &qu...

Re: Lost - Possible Spoilers!

This is an email I wrote to a pal after last year's season finale, and it's still sounding appropriate so far: "I think that Jacob is the brother to Esau, as in the biblical myth. Jacob stole his brother's birthright. Esau would have been the other guy at the beginning of the episode with the r...
