Re: Creating an author web site

I just made a site for my unpublished book, Kings & Queens , with Wix. It's a bottom-barrel host, barely offers anything (the stats are from Google Analytics, it doesn't have email capabilities and it doesn't seem like you can self-host a blog if you're on Wodpress), but the flash site builder i...

Re: Good Books - Bad Endings

The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold The beginning was picture perfect to me (now when I think about it, those first few chapters might have had the whole 'workshopped-to-death-by-the-critique-group syndrome but nevertheless, they were excellent and drew me in immediately) but by the middle it began t...

Re: Share your opening sentence!

Just registered for the site, and I'm digging the first lines. Here's mine. An April sunrise should be a wonderful thing to witness, but for Lucas Pike waking up before nine in the morning was a scrotum-tightening pain, a rude welcome to the snotgreen day at hand, and as he relaxed face-up in his b...

Re: Share your opening sentence!

Ooh! Nice! I like the second one especially, Charlee! Here's mine: Nathadria, the girl everyone had forgotten, decided to leave Hell. That's great. Definitely makes me want to read. Here are opening lines from two YA suspense novels in progress. Even with the two days' rest, my head still didn't fe...

Re: All right vs. Alright

"All right" is preferred, so in narrative I use it, unless I'm in First Person, then it’s on a case by case basis) I DO however, use "alright" in dialogue or thought when it's an exclamation or question. {"Alright! Who made this mess?" or "Alright? Why are you acti...
