Re: Where Do You Get Legally Usable Blog Pictures

Friend and author Roni Loren did a blog post on getting sued for using pictures on her blog (Yes, it happened to her!). She gives you some ways to get pictures without getting sued:

Re: Does Social Media Make Us Nicer?

I think it depends on who you are and why you use social networking in the first place. For us writers, we use it get our names out there, develop a fan base, etc. So of course, the majority of us are going to be protective of our "image" and play nice. Will that translate into being nice ...

Re: Oh, God, I think I'm going to do this...

Hey Sierra! So you're going to self-pub, huh? Sounds like through the nerves you still got your head on straight about the whole thing. :D There's TONS of advice on epubbed out there in the world wide web, but based on what I've read you need to have the following: 1. A good cover (if you don't know...

Re: How do you know when to end a chapter and start a new?

If you tie everything up in each chapter, where's the hook? In almost every book I've read, most chapters end on hooks--that's what makes you want to keep reading. Right? In my newest wip, each chapter ends on a hook, making you wonder what happens right after that. Is it right? Maybe, maybe not. I ...

Re: The Drunkard's Daughter: Mainstream

Thanks for helping with my query! I'll do my best to help with this one. Dara McBride fears that her former son-in-law, Michael the Drunkard, knows the secret she intends to take to her grave. When, after forty years of exile, he returns to New York to reconcile with his son and daughter, she wishes...

Re: Can you suggest good books with multiple POVs?

I guess it depends what you like. I just finished Nora Roberts Three Sisters Island Trilogy and The Circle Trilogy and in all six books she jumps from 4-6 POV's. And she does it well ;-)

Good luck!

Re: The Rain Legacy- MG Fantasy

On the strictly religious continent of Arydnea, thirteen-year-old Lynette’s rule-breaking tendencies have only ever gotten her into trouble- until she eavesdrops on a plot to murder her family. I have thing with long sentences, and this one is long to me. 20 words per sentence is just about right. ...

Re: Query- Wilson Mooney- Young Adult

Wilson Mooney has been in boarding schools since she was eight years old. She is conveniently pessimistic, brilliantly witty, and regrettably, after her grandfather’s untimely death, all alone in this world. This sentence doesn't really give us much character insight, and the effects of her granfat...

Re: Why is it So Hard to Tell if Our Writing is Good?

I think a lot of people over think it. You've got the basics: the grammar, sentence structure, the plot, the arc, the character development, etc, etc (of course I'm talking novels here and not poems or anything) If you know how to do each of these things individually (understand the concepts, learn ...

I'm like this. ;-) Finished isn't really finished until the linger is gone. Then I actually don't do anything. That's pretty boring. LoL
