Re: Researching for a Young adult novel…or…

No, I don't hate you, I'm just wiping the sweat from my brow because you read them too. Although, a Buffy fan/researcher must have good taste in YA books. P.S.--Spike was always my favorite.

Re: Researching for a Young adult novel…or…

Well, like you I’m writing for YA and did research as well. I read several--several YA books and found like you did that my characters would need conflict especially in love. Which, okay, I get it, you have to have conflict they can't be happy--all the time from the get go like you said right? But h...

Re: What to Expect When You're Expect...A Novel!

...Wait, still laughing my butt off. Too funny. Hilarious-awesome-amazing post. Mmm…okay, getting myself together. What to expect when you’re expecting a novel— You will lose ten pounds when the writing is good. Gain twenty pounds when the writing is bad. You will crave time alone with your characte...

Re: Going the Long Way Round

I thought this was a great post and your writing was wonderful, flow-y, just the way I like it. I defiantly felt as if you took me by the hand and showed me your adventure (showed, not told, but showed). I think you made a great point about how we all need adventure in our lives, and the fact that y...

Re: Is your ‘but’ too big?

I've used all of those "buts" and so many more in the past. This is a great post. My New Year's Resolution is to not let anything get in the way of my writing and to fall in love with it again. For me, that's the only cure for the "but" syndrome. Love. Love what you do and do it....

Ouch, (I'm giggling because it's funny and painful at the same time) Amazon is everywhere. Thanks for sharing--great story.

Re: Persephone has a really good agent

Pesephone sounds pretty cool, but uh...couldn't I be...Zeus? After all, he threw thunderbolts at people, thunderbolts! I know, he's a man, and I'm a woman but they have all the cool toys/powers.

Re: Soooo, when's that book of yours going to be done?

When I feel this way, I call it the ugly baby syndrome. Everyone knows I'm working on a book, everyone wants to see it, but I won't let them due to the fear that they will think my baby's ugly. Okay, well, see it's my baby and even though I don't think it’s ugly the thought of showing it to someone ...

Re: The Psychology or Madness of Writers Block

Well, what got me out of my writers block was to discover why I loved writing in the first place. So, another words, I had to forget about the agents, my prose, plot, story, and just write because I love to write. Of course agents, and the way you write are important, but I don't think about these t...

Re: How Little League is Promoting Self-Publishing

You know, when I first decided to write my manuscript I had no idea what I was doing. When it was finished and I "thought" worthy of being published I queried. After thirty rejections I understood one thing--I didn't have the respect for writing that I should have. Now, three messy manuscr...

Oh God, funny as hell. I always wondered what it would be like to go to a writers conference and if the $500+ bucks would be worth it. From reading your post--yes it would be worth it. I love writers.

New Year's Resolution--To Fall in Love with Writing Again

My first memory of books--my mother taking my brother and me to the library when we were pretty young, say six and eight. The best thing about going to the library for me was picking out books for myself and not having to share with anyone. When I sat down with those stories they were mine all mine....
