I had a dream - Multi Genre Mega Series?

This is one of those dreams that is already half gone before you even sit up. And did I have a pen and paper beside my bed? No! The dream started with this violinist . And the rest gets a bit foggy. But I remember he (or someone) rewrites the story of the Titanic (yes I know overdone) from his POV a...

Re: Use Science to Find Your Next Read!

Wow! Love it. I was a big fan of Robert Jordan, so I gave him a whirl, and watayano I had read at least a dozen of the other authors that popped up. I was curious to find Dan Brown in the mix though (even if he was a little further from the centre.

I'll keep this on in my fav links though.

Re: Performance pieces for Eisteddfods - 9 and 11

Thanks, Charlee and Dio, there's some really great suggestions in there. Love the idea of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the car's noises. Speaking of Chitty Bang Bang, I've been trying to talk my son in to doing a duet with my daughter. It's called Doll on a Music Box, and I think they'd pull it off b...

Here's another trailor (simple but effective) that grabbed my attention: Another Faust. I read the book, and it is a great read.

Performance pieces for Eisteddfods - 9 and 11

It's been a long time since I've commented on Nathan's forums (that doesn't mean I don't read my daily email updates). But it is all for good reason. I've discovered that I have 2 extremely talented children, and am finding myself more and more involved with helping them develop these talents (from ...

Either she was seeing some freak reflection in the glass, or someone was sitting in the driver's seat. From Midnight Kiss by Rebecca York. Gathering dust whilst propping up my keyboard. I have trouble writing steamy romance, so my mother gave me a Mills and Boon Silhouette intrigue to read. I must ...

Re: Sharing plot ideas that you couldn't/wouldn't write yourself

Oh, there are so many good ideas here. I don't even want to talk about them, but you've given me the idea for what could easily be a longish short-story, if not a series. Thanks for the free idea! :) Oh come on! Share! Which one? I know, I know, you're going to write about how Cleo found her recent...

Re: First & third person in the same novel?

I'm in a writer's critique group and I'm reviewing a YA manuscript that I am really enjoying. But there is one thing that confuses me. The author has written the main character's perspective from 1st person, and the rest of the novel (everyone else's perspective) is written in 3rd person. I have ne...

Re: Is present tense ever okay?

If you are after Ya, the The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson is written in first person present tense. It starts in past tense, then moves into present tense within about 10 pages.

Hope that helps.

Re: Words I Can't Stop Using

Writing in first person, I had the sinking feeling that my MC seemed to be trapped in her own little bubble. I kept thinking 'I need to extend her world, or something', but as I started editing, I found that all references to me, myself and I (and my, I'd, I've, I'll, and I'm) were really starting t...
