Re: The Bransforumfest Writing Retreat
Sorry folks - all in looks like it won't happen for me this time around, but perhaps another time if it becomes an annual event? Have a fabulous and productive time! xxx

Re: The Bransforumfest Writing Retreat
Oh wow - I pop away for a few Christmas days and there's a writing-fest arranged! Well done. I can even get to Vegas for £ 428.90 GBP - is there an estimation already for any conference costs on top / room hire etc? Will need to think this over - not a definite raised hand (yet), just a query so far...
Re: NaNoWriMo
I shouldn't be here. I should be writing. But I also have an interview to prepare and a book to read for said interview. Yep, definitely shouldn't be here. OK, I'm just clearing my desk. Book, questions prep, NaNoWriMo till 2am. I'm off. I may be gone some time. In fact, I will only come back on Dec...
Re: NaNoWriMo
HI folks - yes, I've bought the t-shirt, so I'm in too! I wasn't planning on joining in until I read the NaNoWriMo posts this week, and became re-inspired to use it as motivation, like a writing boot camp. I first signed up in 2008 but didn't actually do it - this year I am more determined. (same bo...

Re: How'd you come up with that?
Today's BBC Radio 4 programme (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00t109n) included a discussion with two authors on this subject: Richard Russo on his inspiration and ideas, and Nicholas Shakespeare who talked about the trigger for his latest book - a conversion with a writing friend - a TRUE story h...

Re: World Cup!!!
For such a young team with no real superstars (with Ballack out) well Podolski is a hero in Bayern, as is Miroslav Klose. They are both quite experienced too, and it shows in their teamwork. But on this woeful day for unlucky decisions and missed opportunities I'd like to share this inspiring quote...

Re: Book trailers: who makes them, $$$, and are they worth it
The best I've seen is by madison of m2 productions for Cindy Pon's novel and her prices were very, very reasonable, when I enquired in 2009. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihJ1xy009bk) I did one posted over at paperbooks.co.uk too, for a friend's The Snowing and Greening of Thomas Passmore. (http:/...

Re: Ask Nathan
Social Networking and Data Privacy Hi Nathan : what is your opinion on need to have a public profile and get involved in social networking, vs the need for data privacy? Since the most recent changes to Facebook (Instant personalization) mean that we really need to dig deep into both the account and...

Re: The New Website
Also love the new site but agree with the first comment here. When I read the contact page, I was at first confused whether you wanted submissions there via the fill-in boxes and 'submit' or whether to still follow the "email me at" instruction, which is also listed on the page. I took the...

Spelling errors get my goat
I keep seeing neon window signs advertising 'Phone unloking' in the town I just moved to in England. I want to go in and tell every shop owner, "There is a C in that word," but I resist. What spelling errors make you laugh or really get you frustrated?

Re: How many projects do you work on at once?
Definitely mono-bookmous - not to say I don't stray off with ideas for a new project, or work which I'll work on once the WIP is complete, but they are only notes in a big lined book and temporary flirtations. Writing more than notes, scraps of dialogue or scenes, is focused only on the WIP. I don't...

Re: Creative Writing Courses - 1 year + - distance learning
Great - thanks everyone. @Mira - Not looking for employment reasons, just "enjoyment" as well as learning craft. And I may end up relocating to US in the near-term, so perhaps I'll hang on in for the Stanford courses. We'll see. Thanks again.

Creative Writing Courses - 1 year + - distance learning
I'm considering a post-grad Creative Writing Course which runs for six semesters over two years, starting Jan 2010. Requirements include one evening a week in person, from six thirty pm. Due to family commitments, this will be a challenge. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of q...
