Re: Agent requesting Book Proposal for Fiction Submission

Haven't heard a peep from this agent, so we're just gonna carry on. Our eBook release of "Little Mexico: An Original Sin City Novel" is now on Amazon. It's a whole new world out there and if you are confident of your material, don't let anyone stop you from presenting it to the public. Readers are t...

Re: Agent requesting Book Proposal for Fiction Submission

We are not signed with this agent. Originally queried him with a basic letter (including a Chicago Tribune review from one of our self published historical crime fiction novels in 2003). He asked for a full manuscript (of that particular novel) which we sent. A day and a half after receiving that, h...

Re: Agent requesting Book Proposal for Fiction Submission

The agent specifically asked for: "a full proposal, comprising a page each of Synopsis, Author Profile, Competing Books, and brief Chapter Summaries."

We delivered that three weeks ago and he has not acknowledged receiving it.

Self Publishing On Amazon

Well, my wife Cathie and I have decided to jump back into self publishing and will start with our backlist of crime fiction novels as eBooks. Going to do this through Amazon's KDP program.

Re: The Introduction Thread

Hi, Beethovenfan. When we self published back in the mid-1990s, it was looked upon as Vanity Press. Except we actually were a small independent press. We handled our own writing, editing, layout, cover art, etc, and used a printing service to publish in trade paperback and hardcover. We were distrib...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Hi, I'm John Celestri and I collaborate with my wife Cathie, writing as Cathie John. We self published five crime fiction novels back in 1997 through 2003. This was before POD, eBooks, etc. We are relaunching our writing career(s) and catching up on the changes in publishing since we were last activ...

Re: Do most authors use Pen Names?

Hi, Just joined the forum, so I'm new to the group. My wife and I decided to write under a pen name, combining our first names into "Cathie John", which very much reflects our collaborative efforts. It also takes up less cover space than if we used both our names: John Celestri and Cathie Celestri. ...

Agent requesting Book Proposal for Fiction Submission

Is it usual to be asked to provide a full book proposal for a crime novel? My wife and I received a very positive response from a reputable British literary agent to a full manuscript that we sent at his request after we had originally queried him. The novel was the second in a series of historical ...
