Re: Looking for dedicated CPs. General fiction, young adufantasy
This is a really interesting idea! So it's basically for practice? We just write a short story or something and let each other read and critique it? I'd love to do that. I prefer to write YA fantasy as well, though anything fiction is fine.

Re: Looking for a CP for a YA fantasy novel
I would be interested. Yours sounds interesting. I have a YA novel, Bleamy's Corner, that was refected by an interested agent because the YA voice was not right. I need to take out my adult voice and make it that of a bright twelve year old. Inserting (almost used interested again...) the first cha...

Re: Query: The Forest and the Sea
I completely agree and second what Beethovenfan said. Query Shark is very helpful. You should definitely read through the archives. Trust me, it's going to help a ton.

Re: Heck, I called it a thriller. lets see.
We had thought we were lucky. The attack had broken on the pilings of the bridge. The two motor launches had not slowed as they turned into the channel and had shattered. Now, though, came the second wave and it was overland. The patriotic volunteers had been disillusioned and gone back to their da...

Re: Looking for feedback on my query letter.
Kristina, this letter is impossible to read. You should separate the huge blocks of text into shorter paragraphs. That was it's muuuch easier to read that way. Also, this really isn't a query letter. It's a brief synopsis. You should do a little more research on how to write and format a query lette...

Re: QUERY THE WOODLANDS YA Science Fiction
This is a good improvement and I can work with this. It's alright. I read a few advice sites on queries which said, more showing less telling but I may have gone overboard. Is this what a more traditional query 'should' look like. You're right, it's better to show than to tell. You just went about ...

Re: QUERY Escape is just the beginning YA Science Fiction
This isn't a query letter. Most agents are against the idea of making the query letter from the character's POV. It's seen as a gimmick. While this is third person, it seems more like a scene from the book. In fact, it seems like a few scenes from the book thrown onto a page and called a query lette...

Re: Query: THE GREAT TURBULENCE AND MALCONTENT OF BRIMLEY TINDER
In 1665 London, Brimley Tinderbuss writes sharp criticisms of King Charles II's tax-heavy reign. His treasonous words earn him popularity and a possible date with the hangman, but no financial reward. Despite this, he remains optimistic and continues to write scathing reviews of the King's edicts. ...

How should I adress a general query?
Hi, Sorry if you've already answered this question before, I looked everywhere but couldn't find an answer. Some agencies, in their submissions guidelines, give the option of a sending your query to a general query email address that will be sent to all of the agents. If I choose this option, how am...

Looking for a CP for a YA fantasy novel
I need a Critique Partner that will give me their honest opinion about my novel. I've had my friends and family read it but, as every writer probably knows, they're not the most reliable source for feedback. I just need to know if my novel needs to be revised in any way. Are there any holes in the p...

Query:: The Truth About Rabbit Holes :: YA Fantasy
Dear Ms. Rennert, Rabbit holes aren’t the only way to Wonderland... The protagonist of THE TRUTH ABOUT RABBIT HOLES soon discovers this in a twisted retelling of Alice in Wonderland.
