Re: So, this whole waiting thing is the WORST, right?

Preach it, sister. Waiting while on sub is godawful, too. It's hard working on new material when you're checking your inbox every five minutes, isn't it?

Good luck to you!

Re: Tense

I don't like writing, nor do I like reading, in present tense. I'm a third person past tense kinda gal. This probably won't do me any favors when my YA goes on sub...the trend has been first person present in YA for a while now. :(

Re: Writing rituals

The internet is my crutch. Whenever I hit the tiniest stumbling block in my ms, I click that little blue e and go online. God only knows how many thousands of hours I've wasted checking my empty inbox or lurking on forums. If you're like me, I have one word for you: Freedom. It's a software program ...

Holy sh*t, I'd thought this was a manuscript issue, so I'd never clicked on this thread before! I'm sorry to hear about this. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Is there a synonym for f**k?

My advice is to cut your grandfather out of the equation and ask yourself WWMCD? (What Would Main Character Do?) If your narrator is an f-bomb lover, then bombs away, baby! My mom HATES the big GD, and she'd asked me to remove it from one of my stories. But in my romance, the hero loves to say godda...

Re: The waiting game; or, the impatient muse

Whenever I finish a new draft or a round of revisions, I get all antsy and eager to jump right into something else, but I force myself to take a week or two off and read, recharge, interact with those forgotten family members, etc.

Re: Here we go again--planners plus pantsers=?

Cool! While Margo's away the pantsers will play. I'm a cross between pantser and planner. I like to know where I'm going before I start, but I like to discover many of the details along the way. Plus I think I'd go nuts if I had to figure out all the nuts and bolts ahead of starting any actual pros...

You guys are great! Quill, that's sweet of you to say, but I'm not particularly proud of my webpage; (I made it myself, and I think it shows). I'd told my husband I'd hire a web designer if I made a sale, and that's what I'm in the process of doing. :D

Can I share some good news with you?

My agent (Nicole Resciniti) sold my contemporary romance in a three book deal to Sourcebooks. I've been on these boards (sporadically) during the whole journey. In fact, the advice I received here in October helped save my manuscript from a sad, slow death! (Here's the old thread: http://forums.nath...

Wow, you weekend bloggers are hardcore! Kudos. I can barely keep up with my once-a-week blogging schedule.

Re: Putting together a marketing plan? Help!

BTW, did you actually ASK your agent for advice? She sounds friendly enough in an interview I found and speaks of talking with some of her clients every day! Yes, Shea. And she provided some great ideas, then reviewed my plan and offered a couple more suggestions. It's been about a month since then...
