Re: Publisher down the tubes
I'm so sorry to hear that! A few ladies in my RWA chapter went through this, and it sounded terrible. Basically, the authors whose books were already released were SOL, and everyone else obtained attorneys to regain the rights to their books.

Re: Super Sad True Agent Story
One agent recently posted something on twitter that I found so offensive I decided that I wouldn't want to be represented by that person (a person, I might add, who has had my partial for three months without a word). Cheeky, there are a few agents I follow on Twitter who have been crossed off my &...

Re: Super Sad True Agent Story
I'm sorry; that's awful. It sounds like the NY agent just isn't into you any longer but doesn't have the stones to say it. Quite simply, you need to send more queries. You know the manuscript is strong, right? You know the letter is effective, right? Then send out a dozen emails and keep trying, oth...

That's awesome, Don. You must've written a kick-ass query letter to receive that many full requests so quickly!Don Zolidis wrote:Okay starting last week!

Re: How to resurrected dead characters?
Holly, I'm nearly finished, so it's too late to introduce a new subplot or character.
Quill, you make a good point. I should just plod on and finish, even if every single word I write is vile and chock-full of suck. But, god, it's hard to keep moving forward when my work is so very bad.

How to resurrected dead characters?
I had my own private WriMo over the summer, effortlessly plunking down thousands of words per day on my WIP. I was borderline obsessed. My characters wouldn't leave me alone--scene ideas and dialogue snippets came flying at me in the shower, in the car, while I was cooking dinner, while I was preten...

Re: Obsession...
OMG, that's fabulous. Embrace the obsession. I was just like you last month--plunking down anywhere from 2k-5k words per day. I couldn't get enough--couldn't stop thinking about my story. Then I went on vacation and got out of my groove, and I can't get back in. Now the question is how to become obs...

Re: Incarceron
I read the blurb on Amazon, and it sounds like a fun read. But I hate, hate, hate getting wrapped up in an incomplete series. The waiting is torture. It looks like book 2 is coming in December (the book SL mentioned). Is this intended as a 3 book series? 2 books? If so, I'll wait until December and ...

Re: Rough draft process
I think I'm in the minority. I have a target word count for the book, for the acts, and for the scenes. Keep in mind, of course, I outline in finer detail than most. The actual scene word count will end up varying considerably, but I'm happy so long as they average out. It's really more of a tool f...

Re: MOCKINGJAY - spoiler edition
so where was the moment that he realized who she really was or which memories he would choose to believe? I'll give you my opinion. I think the first moment was when Katniss stroked Peeta's hair and he said, "You're still protecting me. Real or not real?" She told him yes, and that's what...

I think so, too, since it was Coin's idea and other leaders disagreed with her ("...my colleagues and I can come to no consensus...").Down the well wrote:I think it died with Coin.ltm wrote:I was confused--there was NOT another Hunger Games, right? They voted yes, but it didn't happen... did it?

Re: MOCKINGJAY - spoiler edition
I finished the book Tuesday, today is Saturday, and my opinion remains unchanged. As for Katniss's vote on the new Hunger Games, I'm 100% positive she only voted yes to manipulate Coin. Haymitch knew it, too, which was why he cast a similar vote. I think the vote was Coin's test to see how cooperati...
