As the title of my post suggests, I am looking for some great creative writing exercise suggestions. I'd love links to blogs, websites or even some of your own ideas.
Thanks,
Kristie

Re: How do I quote poetry in my fiction and cite appropriately?
In many of the novels that I read, poetry or words read or recited are often at the beginning of the dialog. Example: *Character* curiously walks over to shelves that are lined with dusty, yellowed books. He runs a finger along the aged spines and pulls a title from it's forgotten home. A book by Sa...

Re: QUERY: Untitled YA Post Apocalyptic Novel
Thanks for the comments/critiques. I thought that first person would be the wrong way to go, so thanks for confirming this! I'm definitely not ready to actually start querying agents as the novel is (obviously) still in the writing stages. I'm still working out some of the plot kinks, so thanks for ...

QUERY: Untitled YA Post Apocalyptic Novel
Dear Agent, I am running. Running away from someone that I thought I could trust. A friend. No, that’s not right. He’s not a friend; rather, he’s a mutated version of the boy I grew up with. He doesn’t know who I am anymore. His vocal chords have been stripped, his mind reprogrammed. He’s become a h...

I'm no good at editing/critiquing query letters, but I wanted to tell you that I think your storyline is super cute! Can't wait to read more.

Re: Periods of Feast or Famine
Glad it's not just me!! I do the same thing, some days I find that I have written 4-5k, then nights like last night only 500 or so. I figure as long as I keep coming back to the novel, that even with my writing spurts, it will get done.

Re: Query: Children's picture book with 2 writers
QUERY REVISION #1 Dear ABC, Bridget is a typical five-year-old girl who loves dolls, animals, tea parties and building sand castles in her backyard. One day, a silvery butterfly flits all around the sandbox and scares Bridget who is afraid of all things buggy. Later that night, Bridget receives a su...

When to Query an agent
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to my question, but I wanted to see if there is a rule of thumb or an industry standard. Anyway, my question is is it best to complete your novel or have a work in progress when querying an agent. For instance, you have a 40,000 word WIP that looks to be heading to ...

Query: Children's picture book with 2 writers
This is my first attempt at a Query letter, please dissect it/critique it, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks. Dear Ms. ABC, My writing partner and I found the ABC Literary Agency through Nathan Bransford's website and blog, and we couldn't be happier. We feel that with your background i...

How to submit a query letter when you have a writing partner
Hi Nathan (and other readers/writers)! A good friend and I have completed a children's picture book and are wanting to start submitting it to agents. My question is (and I know you've not worked with children's picture books), how do we write our query letter when there are two of us? I've read thro...
